ok, this is the clip as promised, grim and uncleskinny are right at the beginning plus you see a back shot of them with moz 23rd, this is the lowest quality (36mb, 7 minutes long), i'll do a better quality one tomorrow afternoon for those who want it, please pass on another link via yousendit.com, just upload the file (takes 36 minutes on 512k broadband) and cut and paste the link you are given and put the link here so another 25 people can see it, thanks

    Default Well THAT was interesting...

I can see the argument they are trying to make- but you really cannot say that the Smiths were not important enough to study at University to a rabid fan without getting impaled here on the Morrissey-Solo.Com forum. If they said that the band Whitesnake did not need to be studied at some college for the same reasons they mention I would totally agree with them- but all the heavy-metal heads on that fan website's forums would be calling for their heads as well...

Default I Agree With Paul (Did Not Catch His Last Name), The Smiths Do Not Belong In Academia.

Three cheers for solipsistic bedroom exegesis!

And that woman's apparent eagerness to expound her trendy sontagesque musings on Morrissey and "camp" made me grab for my revolver...

    Oh, how I loathe poststructualists.

but it's more than just what they said about the smiths. to say things like (not an exact quote) "the meaning of this line is obvious, and so it shouldn't be studied in the academia" is missing the point in two ways: first, discussing literature is not just about "what does this line mean?". second, think of a line like "to be or not to be, etc." that's pretty obvious as well. would they say it should not be studied...?
also, what one of them said about popular culture/popular music (again, don't exactly remember) as a thing that is and should be only private, not worthy of public discussion, well...
