The cool thing about that band is that they can take turns singing the songs because they will have someone in the group who can really fit the mood of the song. Stuart David is really cool because he sounds like Yakko from Animaniacs. His one line in "Legal Man" is the best part of the song. It was really cool. Then, you have the guy who plays trumpet with a really cool deep voice. At first, I was a purist and thought that only Stuart Murdoch should sing all of the material, but this makes it even better.
Yes, it was cool.
I haven't had a chance to sit down and analyze the lyrics, but it sounds like their usual to me. Actually, I was kind of worried of the quality of this album since the B-sides to Legal man weren't that great. But it was cool. There were many cool melodies and I liked the Wrong Girl at the first. But the others were cool and they grew on me as well. There are some I skip over while driving in the car. that's where I mostly listen to my stuff. They slow ones may be really cool songs, but trying to listen to soft melodies while driving down the highway doesn't work.
Has anyone else seen "Shaft" and was relatively bored by it?
