in this thread we will talk about the b-side "i'd love to"

i've been listening to this song a lot lately since i acquired the alternate limited 12" edition of the more you ignore me single. i don't think it ever really hit me until now that this song is absolutely incredible. perhaps one of my favorite of all his b-sides. would have been the perfect track to precede speedway on vauxhall i believe.

i can see that. but its actually the bass and the synths that grab me, aside from the vocals of course.

its very ethereal. all of the vauxhall era stuff is. its the perfect morrissey record to fall asleep to after throwing back a few painkillers. i think in saint morrissey, mark simpson even said something about it being condusive to valium or something like that.

My reply was "Well so would I". (Self explanatory - maybe?)

You stated at the beginning of the thread "we will discuss a "B" side (as in second place/class)

By my stating, that this is an "A" side by the way, meant..I mean it sincerely (as in the main side of the record)

I really don't know if you know what I am talking about.
Most of the time I don't either...it just comes out spuriously.....

Anyway don't lose any sleep over it.....I'm off to catch some now...hopefully

According to Jonny Bridgwood, there are NO synths on the album. It's all guitar that has been very cleverly altered by various recording techniques. Which, by that reckoning, makes the pure sound of the track all the more amazing.

The lyrics are direct in a way that find a happy synthesis of his earlier, wordier style and an emotional honesty that much of YATQ often attempts with too many shades of self-pity and entitlement. In short, you can tell the song is written specifically and lovingly with someone in mind.
