The Brit Awards> Do We Care?

I'm no fan of the event but when i have sat and watched it i've thoroughly enjoyed hurling random insults and abuse (otherwise known as tourettes) at the tv. Year after year they celebrate just about everything wrong with the British music industry, with, as always the odd exception. Without fail they try to look cool by giving an award to somebody like 'Sigur Ros' or i think it was 'Belle 'n' Seb' a few years back, tis solely to have viewers nationwide go "never erd of em'", and for those who have to get annoyed when "their" band is flung into the nations livingrooms etc.
This year i will make a point of watching to see if they can yet again ignore the presence of Morrissey back in the 'hit parade', i have no doubt The Streets will win the award but i'll have to see it to believe it. I can imagine most of you not really giving a f*ck which is fair enough, as in since when has the music industries opinion/agenda ever mattered to us? Good point, but i'd just like for once to have them back track and for them...no doubt painfully to acknowledge Morrissey has come back time and time again and has been written off equally as much.

Considering Morrissey's future plans are as ever unknown, i think this award is important. Even if he can just snigger at the fat bearded establishments so-called acceptance after 20+ years, a f*ck you to all those record companies who ignored him in that difficult seven year P45.

If i remember rightly Morrissey last got nominated for a Brit award in 1995, best solo artist just after "Vauxhall & I". I can't remember the other nominess but i think Poor Weller won it that year...i could accept that more, but not piss poor people like Limahl, Jamie Cull-him and Will Hang, god no.

rant over & out...

love

the thing is you'll never get all of their tunes on one album as they've been quite prolific but if you're not a sad nerd like myself it might be better to wait for the album.

The album "Silent Alarm" all over the net very good it is too.

It's officially released 14-2-2005 i think.
