Franz Ferdinand are crap. Just goes to prove the state of British music if they are nominees!

no way ,they're brilliant and beautifull too yeah i know sorry i am that shallow.

I thought they were super at MEN.Easily one of the best Moz support acts but that doesn't really say a lot.

Really liked the album as well and I'm pleased for Alex as well as he's been slogging around the Glasgow music scene for years without a sniff of success.

I don't think they do anything particularly new.A hybrid of Wire and Josef K with a dollop of Orange Juice but I can think of a lot worse bands to take inspiration from.

I also like their shirts.

They are crap musicians though.

i have seen them live a few times last year and think that they're very charismatic, they are really good musicians and have an exelent presence on stage didn't you see them at MEN ,they rocked.

Yes, I had the misfortune to see them at MEN and spent most of the time with my fingers in my ears.

Sadly, I saw more of them, from a good position, (or bad depending on how you view it) than I did Morrissey.

I think thats secondary though to what a band is actually trying to get across.

Eric Clapton is a great guitarist but personally I would rather listen to my granny playing the bongos after she had downed a litre of sherry.

If you listen to an album like the debut from The Clash then you will probably hear Grade 11 guitar playing but the energy and zeal smacks you between the eyes.

I think it's this kind of raw enthusiasm F.F are trying to emulate.

Re: Franz Ferdinand are not crap. Just nothing really.

I think they look great, have all the right ingredients etc.

But I just find them really dull, the album was good but I never play it.

Perhaps they are too good? Tick all the right boxes, but there's no edge there. There's something very safe about them. I think that's why they are winning all the awards. It's like the critics don't have to put their neck out to like them.

yeah but the album doesn't represent what they're about ,when i went to see them at the brixton academey they only did about 5 0r 6 songs from the album and all the rest was new material includind a couple of songs they'd just finished writing a week before hands.

Re: Franz Ferdinand are not crap. Just nothing really.

But all the acclaim they are getting is mainly based on the album isn't it? Mercury prize and all that.

I really like them a lot. They are upbeat and have a unique style.

I'm with you on this. The first time I heard their album, I listened to it all the way through, TWICE. Really great music -- and unique, so it's refreshing.

I love the video Michael -- those sleek black pants and shirts. It takes me back to my clubbing days when everyone wore black.

Whaa??? They don't wear black anymore? Jeezus louizus, I must be outta the loop!

Well they are far-removed from The Clash.
I've never heard your Granny on the bongos, but if she's anything like mine, I'll stick with Mr Clapton thank you.
Just because someone can actually play the instrument they are using, doesn't make them a bore...LAYLA!

Nah, you like FF, you're still in the loop. Uhh... I think.
