If Morrissey does do a mini tour this year...when do you think it will be?

In support of the album perhaps? Or maybe before? He may suprise us and announce dates in March to support the DVD and CD. I know its been left a bit late but wasn't the announcement of places like Blackpool and Bridlington left until only a month and a half or so before the gigs?

Australia and Japan, maybe a US date or two as warm-up, March/April this year

There wont be anything in the uk at all.

As "anonn" says, its going to be Australia, Japan, South America and possibly South Africa

and possibly some in mainland Europe

Re: His own backyard ...

LA probably.

and a few more dates.....i figure that his release of "i like you" as a single must mean something more significant than playing a couple of warm up dates in vegas and LA before heading elsewhere!

but then again, i'm probably wrong as usual. hopefully their staff will finally come back from the christmas holidays and start announcing some stuff.

Re: His own backyard ...

i'm hoping for some l.a. dates. i'd like to take a trip out there anyway, but i hope its not for feb. 1st as the placeholders indicate. thats way too soon to start saving for plane tickets and taking off of work!

flying to los angeles is cheap. it's the hotel and rental car that will kill ya.

Re: His own backyard ...

how much are flights to l.a. from nyc?

why don't you search on orbitz.com for a rough estimate?

orbitz

i flew from philly to la for the last set of shows for around $200 and ny was about the same.

rental cars aren't that bad (i think i paid around $40 for mine) + there's motels right near lax that'll run you about $40 a day.

but the airport hotels are so far out of the way of anything interesting, and who wants to risk being stuck in traffic trying to drive all the way to a show? there was one in beverly hills i was interested in called the Beverly reeves that didn't seem too expensive (about $90) if you were doing it for a night or two, but since it was just me not sharing a room with anyone, i decided to go for dinky and stayed at the Days Inn.

if moz plays a date in san fran, and if i were jp, i'd much rather go to that than LA if i had a choice of where to go.

sure, you might want to go to LA for the moz landmarks, but that's about all they have that i found interesting.

Re: His own backyard ...

I dunno, his single releases are not as big a event, as they are in the UK.
I think the excitment over the release of 'I Like You' is summed up by the iPod contest on MorrisseyMusic.com.

I do hope he makes up for the cancelled gigs in Texas and San Fran though.

I was also hoping he'd sit down and record another album.

it seemed like they had half a mind to make it a valentine's day greeting, but it doesn't make much sense that they are releasing it anyway unless they've milked the UK for every last album and are now trying to put some serious effort into the states.

i hope i win! i only entered once, but i think that my time has finally come to win something. i'm cute and deserving!

we'll have to wait for more lawsuits to inspire moz for more material.

Re: His own backyard ...

thanks for all the information. i would definitely try to stay with friends in either city. then again, all this talk and really nothing to suggest that the shows, if there are any, will even be in california. fingers crossed.

There was meant to be a US effort earlier in the year, remember that all
Pepsi Smash thing? I'm pretty convinced he's done touring.

It's like winning the US Visa lottery.

Is it the same iPod Morrissey didn't want back then?

> we'll have to wait for more lawsuits to inspire moz for more material.

With the MEN DVD coming out, it's just a matter of time ...

oh yeah...i forgot about that. and the 5 nights on Kilborn.

oh well, that wasn't exactly a major offensive was it? :^)

he *should * be done touring considering how many dates he played and how long he was on the road, but once you cut out the duplicate shows for LA and London, i think he actually played 3 other cities on his tour, so he really did leave out a lot of people.

> It's like winning the US Visa lottery.

oh my chances are bleak, indeed...

> Is it the same iPod Morrissey didn't want back then?

he says he doesn't want it but he probably draws his curtains before listening to it so that nobody would see.

i wouldn't pay $300 for a glorified walkman, but i'll take any freebie passed along.

Re: Australia and Japan, maybe a US date or two as warm-up, March/April this year

Unlikely, considering the wholesale non-promotion of the album in Oz by WEA. Anyway if he does come, true to form it's guaranteed to be when I'm out of the country, so it has to be May!

I think of Morrissey as a tiny sperm trying to penetrate a giant egg, in regards to the US.

Leave them wanting more that's the key, or abandon them completely ...

> oh my chances are bleak, indeed...

It's probably rigged anyway.
Hey, I can't even enter the competition.
Like the US Visa Lottery, it's meant to get the FBI's computers updated with information on terrorist suspects and innocent illegal immigrants, or in this case the Moz's US fans.

> he says he doesn't want it but he probably draws his curtains before

... while surfing morrissey-solo.com with his iMac.
Like anyone would believe he's using that old record player he used on the
Importance Of.

It's a glorified hard drive really.
There isn't a person living, who would pass on on freebies.
