in years past, whenever we were sending aid to needy countries, we could usually pony up the money through our taxes and that be the end of it.

this year, we have slipped two former presidents into boy scout uniforms and had them set up a bake sale/car wash to raise the funds.

not literally, of course, but think of all the money that we waste inflicting suffering upon people when that money could have been sent elsewhere for a better cause.

you're right the US should start pay its debts, otherwise we'd have a US dollar to Euro conversion rate of about 2 to 1.
