Default Bootlegs on eBay. Is there a "Godfather" who decides?

I was selling a couple of bootlegs on eBay. Stuff I had bought in Camden, London. After some days my items were removed by eBay because of the violation of The Unauthorized Copies Policy. Someone had reported to eBay my stuff as "irregular".

And this can be absolutely right.

What surprises me is that the same stuff that was removed from my list, it's more or less sold by other people. And these other people are selling it without problems.

EBay told me that as a company they start an investigation as soon as someone reports "irregular" stuff to them.

Now I am wondering why I am reported while others can do what they want. Is there a Godfather who allows to do so? 10 years ago I remember one guy who didn't allow anyone else to sell Moz bootleg and still Internet was not popular....

I don't make money with eBay and I don't care selling live gigs. I had some and put them online. But I don't like what happened....

that sounds pretty suspect. the only thing i can think of is maybe it happened if you have a low feedback score? anyway, i just bought a dvd burner so let me know if you'd be interested in trading at all.

p.s. i just watched all 3 godfather movies yesterday. so good!

It's probably your competitors playing dirty.

If there's someone else selling the same stuff as them they won't earn as much.

I asked this question recently as being a relative newcomer to e-bay myself I didnt know how pirate stuff could be openly sold on there. Not that I`m against it mind--I was just curious.I dont have a view one way or the other.

The answer I got was basically "what the eye dont see the heart dont grieve over"

Therefore I would say, as someone as already pointed out,it is more likely a jealous competitor has complained rather than someone with a legal/moral axe to grind.

Maybe you are too sucessful or seen as such?

Thank you all, guys. I have some good stuff and I have a high feedback. 100% positive. And I agree that my items were not reported by someone with "legal/moral axe" but by some stupid jealous competitor. Maybe because I was selling the Janice Long session or the Santiago bootleg quite cheap or shall I say at a regular/wise price...In any case I am willing to trade with all of you who have good stuff. Just mail me with your wants and with what you have. I am preparing a list myself.

You don't use the word "Bootleg" at all in your auctions do you? If you do, ebay many times, will just terminte your auction for TOS.

Of course I don't....I am not that stupid!!! In any case eBay told me it's just because someone reported my cds as illegitimate that they terminated my auctions.

Don't take offense.... I am not saying that you are. It's just I see it all the time on there actually. There are a lot of people that don't know/understand that.
