What is your interpretation of the lyrics for "Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice?"
Ha ha. We all know it's about ole Dad getting some food stuck in throat.
Ok, not really.
It's about a sexual experience "Daddy" had when he was young and craaaved affection. His voice was, ahem, affected by it. Who's Daddy? Your guess is as good as mine. (cue knowing laugh...) But the song is damned hilarious! I always get a kick out of seeing Moz sing it (complete with requisite hand gestures) live.

Thanks. That is pretty much my interpretation. A lot of people say it is about incest but I disagree.

Yes, I agree, no way. No Moz song could ever be so straightforward as that! Morrissey is much too talented to be so vulgar as to sing a one-layer, face value song! Plus, it says Daddy was a 'teenage boy,' i.e., not a 'dad' yet.
But again, only one person knows who "Daddy" is, and he ain't tellin'. At least, not yet!

You sound very informed. I love your website. Very nice. I will make sure to come to you with all future lyrical questions. I am usually a real dunce when it comes to interpreting them myself. Thanks again.
I don't know how informed I am -- I might be speaking utter nonsense! But I hope I'm pretty close, sometimes. Whatever you think is just as valid as what I think, though! Don't forget that. (Just remember, it's never on the surface with Mozzer's songs; it's always just...a bit... deeper. SO many layers -- endlessly fascinating.) Poor ole Moz, he writes all these songs and no one ever talks about the songs themselves, just the silly, irrelevant stuff. People like us can change that. (But I STILL maintain there's nothing wrong with a little good-natured -- emphasis on the good-natured -- joking around.)
Oh well. Thanks again.

I agree. And I think all conversations have become very trivial in general. People used to sit around the fire and talk about philosophy, literature, politics etc.. Now, they sit in front of a monitor and post hateful insults at one another. Meaningful discourse is a dying art.
and your attitude.
Will you be submitting a dissertation to the Smiths symposium?

If they're accepting, well, then, OF COURSE! Will the Pulitzer committee be reviewing the submissions, then? (In case you've been lucky enough not to notice, I'm wearing that joke OUT! Thankyouverymuch.)
But thanks for the compliment, Mike TV. I hope you will also be entering a submission. Your stories (scenarios, fantasy worlds) are quite hilarious!
Mike TV, et al., I have never, ever spent this much time in front of a computer in one calendar day, but it has been quite entertaining. Thank you for allowing me to see the 'other side,' as it were. You give me hope, and whatever you do, you MUST submit your dissertation. (At least to me -- I am in dire need of a good laugh!)
In all seriousness, yes, I am going to do so.
I went back and read over it just now; it is literally right up my alley, and yes, I will -- most definitely -- make a submission. At first glance I thought it was, as my good friends the Brits say, "a wind up", but it seems to have some legitimacy, after all.
Thanks for asking, Mike TV, and alerting me to it. It really is a great idea.

As tired as I am, I saw this and had to respond, because I feel so strongly about it. All my (slightly lame) joking aside, I literally couldn't agree with you more. It is a truly rare thing to find someone that you can have a legitimate, intelligent, stimulating conversation with -- as you said, reality, a meaningful discourse. It's actually something I was thinking about quite a bit today, which makes it kind of surreal that you brought it up. My former neighbor and I used to have the most amazing, far-ranging discussions about nearly everything, and since he's moved, the void has been almost palpable.
One just doesn't encounter people daily who know the art of conversation -- I don't mean small talk, of course -- I mean the art of having a real discussion. So many people sit around all day and talk about nothing, that's nothing new. (I think my former coworkers actually just sat around at lunch and played the same tape, every day, of a lunch hour from 15 years ago or something...) You're right -- hurling insults at strangers, staring into a cathode-ray screen -- things surely have changed. But our conversation, even though it's about the problems themselves, defies that trend by its very nature. A small, but important, victory!

Very well said thursday. You are a diamond in the rough, here. Take back this forum and make it what it once was, a place for stimulating converstion and pathways to enlightment. Haha. Seriously though, I think you are a breath of fresh air. I am so bored with all these posts about trolling and broken. I appreciate your kind words, knowledge of Morrissey and his lyrics etc.. Flood the forum with meaningful posts, and surely the garbage will sink to the bottom.

Hey rb! I just noticed your post. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and I do believe you're right. You're so sweet and kind to say all that. I think I posted another response to you on here last night -- I'd have to check to be sure, though! What a haze I was in last night, ha ha. Sleep deprivation, mm. (Which CAN be fun occasionally, don't get me wrong!) Also, I noticed you had a journal earlier today. I'm going to read it tonight -- I look forward to reading more of your insight!

Oh, my journal is boring. I am burning a candle at two ends and haven't had time to make it really special.

I can't imagine anything you could ever write would be boring. And I'm not trying to be 'cute,' either, I really believe that that is the case. You're different, and it's so, so incredibly refreshing. I feel like we're on the same radio wavelength or something, ha ha... So, I'll pick an entry or two and add a comment, ok? I look forward to it.
And, you want to talk about boring journals? Mine has only three entries so far and two themes, which I affectionately call the "How the heck am I going to get to Dublin?" theme and the "Everyone on morrissey-solo has gone absolutely insane, with the exception of me!" theme. LOL Well, I'll add you to the sane list... I think.
