Oscar Wilde spoiled Morrissey

I was thinking, I love Morrissey, so why do I find him so bloody annoying? And then I thought, Oscar Wilde! Oscar Wilde was the most disgusting, egotistical, empty, idle, posturing media hog in the history of the world. Attracting attention was his greatest talent. He got what he deserved (for being so annoying). And Morrissey, a genuinely talented artist, admires THAT pig? Morrissey looks at the lilies and bad poetry and Oscar gloating 'look at me I'm famous' and says 'that's beautiful'? Morrissey has soaked up too much of Oscar's flower-flopping, ring-wearing, clothes-shopping, wallpaper-obsessed, self-absorbed aestheticism and that makes Morrissey ANNOYING. My God, what kind of person takes Oscar Wilde seriously????

I do. I love Oscar Wilde, he was an amazing talent and an incredible
wit, and like Morrissey, they both had an incredible love for
art, despite both of their outward personas..do you know anything
about Oscar Wilde? Have you read..say The Picture of Dorian Gray,
or any of his plays, like Lady Windermere's Fan or Salome? He was
an incredible personality and i have a lot of respect for him.
You can believe whatever you want to believe, but the way he acted
and the way others percieved him, was very diffrent from what he
was, which is kind of like Morrissey. Of course they both had their faults, but is that a reason to say he deserved to die so early
and be prosecuted for simply being a homosexual, you think he
deserves that for the way he acted and dressed, which, really there
is nothing wrong with..i, in fact, agree with an idea the movie
Velvet Goldmine put forth, which was he was in fact the first pop
star..maybe not the first officialy, but first widely known.
And althought i am not putting that movie and it's writers on a pedestal, i agree..he was very pop star like..and what is Morrissey?
a pop star. Morrissey is very much like Wilde in some respects, and
it seems you have issues, a lot of really stupid issues, with Morrissey. And who cares who is hero's are? My God, don't you think
there are worse people to look up to? Oscar Wilde was brilliant...
there..i've said my piece..

books are either well written or badly written

i completely disagree, even in his flippant remarks there was truth about upper class society. have you studied the picture of dorian gray? like dorian, your senses have to be keener to understand. was it really the yellow(french) poisonous book that destroyed him that he received from lord henry, was it really that influencial? was it wilde that spoiled morrissey or was it always in him? didn't you see anything clever in the fact that he never really revealed any of dorian's sins if they were even sins at all. is it simply secrecy that kills a person, was he made to feel ashamed of something that wasn't necessarily shameful like homosexuality? wilde is always showing the judgemental views of society, they never believed dorian to be sinful because of how he looks, isn't our society still guilty of that? do appearances matter too much? the book allows one to make up one's own mind about dorians sins and about public attitudes, somewhere toward the end of the book wilde says something like "the books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world it's own shame." i could find you the exact quote but that wouldn't make a difference. in the book wilde tried to reveal that there are moments in every day life that could be special and beautiful if only we were awared and would noticed. was dorian guilty of taking lord henry's words the wrong way? in the end aesthetics aren't shallow at all because everything matters but everything has to be looked at from both sides, "All art is at once surface and symbol." is wilde talking about inner or outer aesthetics or possibly both? remember it was dorian's extraordinary "personality" that appeals to basil but is basil also guilty of to much adoration? you can detest oscar and morrissey but is wilde's influence really all bad or all good? wilde would disagree. thank you for reading and my email is there "wide to receive" you critism. "there's more to life than books...?"

I am afraid I lost the will to live before I got too far though this one. Are you an english teacher or something? What do you want from us to make you go away?. A book isnt for studying and ripping apart by pseudo intellectuals who devote their time coming up with crap like yours!

Books are difficult to understand when you don't take the time to think

Are you just jealous of her, or do you lack the stamina to read? Just because something is well written and you lack reading skills doesn't mean you should attack it. If you "lost the will to live" I would say that's a decision that was make quite on your own and not as the reflection of some article that used words and ideas outside of your own vocabularly.

A book is something you not only blankly read, but also study to find the true meaning of the text. You can't go through your life expecting everything that you read to be overly simple so that you don't have to exert your mind in any way to understand it. If you have that belief I would suggest that you give up reading all together.

And, why is it that when someone uses correct grammer, and makes a good point, that they are reffered to as "psudo intellectuals". Are you really that intellectually challenged that you're threatened by a few good ideas.

I commend her on her post, and I've emailed her stating this already. As for you, of little mind capicity, try thinking the next time you read. If you can't bring yourself to do that, why read at all.

I think you should go back and read Cinderella's points again because you seem to have entirely missed them. All I will say is that your lack of education is apparent when you suggest that salome's post was well-written. Also as far as grammar and spelling are concerned you have a long way to go yet. Your post was a pathetic attempt at being clever and you failed big-style you pathetic individual. Why don't you get back in bed with daddy and make some half-wit children so you've got someone to talk to.

I HAD to respond to this. = ) Hmm, calling someone a "twat" is educated?

Lack of education, everyone is SOO judgemental, most of us have gone through all of our edication so it's silly to even claim that anyone of us have a real lack of education. Silly silliness.

>Also as far as grammar and

It's strange, you judge but no one cares what you have to say. Why even post it...

Ah DU-HUH, whomever it was signed the post with a sarcastic tag line about that. You're he one missing it buddy.

WOW! Reading this makes me believe everything you say. You are my hero. So educated, so mature, so full of @#!!!. HAHAHAHA. It's people like you who are threated by intelligence. *smooches*

Small minds, defending the smaller

You, reffering to MY lack of education and grammer. Coming from you, I'll take that as a great compliment.

At first, I almost believed that you possessed some intelligence but after reading your entire mail it's apparent how little intelligence (and maturity for that matter) that you possess. Thank you for your splattering of opinions, as always. Although, they don't in the least support or justify her claims as possesing any more thought, in that they're coming from you. But, it's good to see that her sentiments can be clearly understood by her own kind.

You have quite obviously missed my point! This makes your little outpouring look quite ridiculous. Anyone who would recomend the cessation of reading for any reason whatsoever has to be a complete moron. The general lack of sufficient reading in the population as a whole is what leads to bandwaggon-jumpers like you missing the point in the first place!

I was merely suggesting that there is no reason to ravage and rape a text in order to enjoy it for what it is, something quite beautiful. It is also possible to draw meaning from a text without picking the flesh from the bones, arse wipe. How the F U C K does she know what Wilde was thinking and what makes her want to humiliate herself internationally by stating poorly what she has obviously read off the fly leaf! And as for the grammar... As every single one of us takes ourselves before any work of art the conclusions can only ever be subjective, I strongly suggest you stand back and be critical before accepting something so willingly as right in future.

I think it would suit you for others to stop reading because it is the only way you are ever going to look learned! Would you honestly have got up off your tight little arse and read anything of any worth if you hadn't heard Morrissey liked it?

I suggest you take some of your own advice and think before shooting your mouth off about something you clearly don't understand!

In an intellectual battle love I think I could have more than a good stab at you.

It is hard not to take the piss when you are f u c k i n g giving it away! You sicophantic slag.

Whether you like it or not swearwords are part of the language structure. Only mad religious types and puritans think a bit of swearing invalidates a message, don't be so childish, it makes you very boring.I don't care if you think I'm intelligent because your opinion is of very little worth. Aren't you being rather judgemental yourself? You hypocritical sub-human scum. "Sugar kisses"?? I bet the last time someone kissed you was after you drugged them with rohypnol, no wait a minute, you wouldn't need to drug them, you could just send them to sleep with your inane worthless ideas.

please stay with your own kind, and I'll stay with mine. You are a very rude and intolerant person and you seem to think that putting your text in bold makes it more important.

I find your views on intelligence upsetting, I know I don't have a special high IQ or anything. But I try to be a good person. Why dont some of you try being nice.

Multiple, and all of his poo-poos

OOOH you poor baby, is highschool that tough these days? I hope not, I hope you can get past this teen angst, that you OBVIUOSLY have. *smooches*

I don't mind if you forget me, may 'multiple' have fun with his own kind

Ah, we have struck a deal! I agree, we will stay with our own kind. I will stay with the more intelligent and mature, and you can side with the angst ridden, childish few of this board. And, since your kind seems to preside here, I will take my leave of this place. The Marketplace is the only board left with the intelligent few. I will go there.

Have fun with your kind. As for my bold text, or lack thereof, try to get overyourself if you can. (laughs) Taa-taa, my ever insecure poster.

Last thoughts to the queen of the anthill

My my, did I hit too close to the bone on that one my sweet little drama queen? I can fully assure you that there is nothing "embarassing" about expressing an intelligent, thoughtful opinion on a book. She shouldn't feel anything bad in the least. It is only those like you who feel the need to surround yourself in an air of drama, and flare with your meanless postings that should feel embarassed about words.

Do you ever make any points of your own, or do you just pick at everyone else? Oh, that's a rhetorical question, if you know what that means. Think about that for a moment, that is if you truly do. You post as if you are nothing but a reactor. It's a nice life for the thoughtless masses. Feel free to reinstate your place them.

I feel almost a note of sadness in having to say goodbye to you. Your ignorace is ridiculouly obvious and I love responding to you. It not only riles you but drives you to reveal your nature a bit more. Perhaps there will be other who continue on the tradition. I hope so!

Feel free to write a passionate, swear laden reply to my post. And, I hope that in the least it boosts your little mind in that I don't respond, and you can get a somewhat psudo-successful feeling as a result. Although, my lack of responce will stem from my permanent absence from this board. Don't let that stand in the way of your small minded victories at shouting at my ghosts. It HAS been fun. Ta-ta!

Re: I don't mind if you forget me, may 'multiple' have fun with his own kind
