I was thinking, I love Morrissey, so why do I find him so bloody annoying? And then I thought, Oscar Wilde! Oscar Wilde was the most disgusting, egotistical, empty, idle, posturing media hog in the history of the world. Attracting attention was his greatest talent. He got what he deserved (for being so annoying). And Morrissey, a genuinely talented artist, admires THAT pig? Morrissey looks at the lilies and bad poetry and Oscar gloating 'look at me I'm famous' and says 'that's beautiful'? Morrissey has soaked up too much of Oscar's flower-flopping, ring-wearing, clothes-shopping, wallpaper-obsessed, self-absorbed aestheticism and that makes Morrissey ANNOYING. My God, what kind of person takes Oscar Wilde seriously????

I do. I love Oscar Wilde, he was an amazing talent and an incredible
wit, and like Morrissey, they both had an incredible love for
art, despite both of their outward personas..do you know anything
about Oscar Wilde? Have you read..say The Picture of Dorian Gray,
or any of his plays, like Lady Windermere's Fan or Salome? He was
an incredible personality and i have a lot of respect for him.
You can believe whatever you want to believe, but the way he acted
and the way others percieved him, was very diffrent from what he
was, which is kind of like Morrissey. Of course they both had their faults, but is that a reason to say he deserved to die so early
and be prosecuted for simply being a homosexual, you think he
deserves that for the way he acted and dressed, which, really there
is nothing wrong with..i, in fact, agree with an idea the movie
Velvet Goldmine put forth, which was he was in fact the first pop
star..maybe not the first officialy, but first widely known.
And althought i am not putting that movie and it's writers on a pedestal, i agree..he was very pop star like..and what is Morrissey?
a pop star. Morrissey is very much like Wilde in some respects, and
it seems you have issues, a lot of really stupid issues, with Morrissey. And who cares who is hero's are? My God, don't you think
there are worse people to look up to? Oscar Wilde was brilliant...

i completely disagree, even in his flippant remarks there was truth about upper class society. have you studied the picture of dorian gray? like dorian, your senses have to be keener to understand. was it really the yellow(french) poisonous book that destroyed him that he received from lord henry, was it really that influencial? was it wilde that spoiled morrissey or was it always in him? didn't you see anything clever in the fact that he never really revealed any of dorian's sins if they were even sins at all. is it simply secrecy that kills a person, was he made to feel ashamed of something that wasn't necessarily shameful like homosexuality? wilde is always showing the judgemental views of society, they never believed dorian to be sinful because of how he looks, isn't our society still guilty of that? do appearances matter too much? the book allows one to make up one's own mind about dorians sins and about public attitudes, somewhere toward the end of the book wilde says something like "the books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world it's own shame." i could find you the exact quote but that wouldn't make a difference. in the book wilde tried to reveal that there are moments in every day life that could be special and beautiful if only we were awared and would noticed. was dorian guilty of taking lord henry's words the wrong way? in the end aesthetics aren't shallow at all because everything matters but everything has to be looked at from both sides, "All art is at once surface and symbol." is wilde talking about inner or outer aesthetics or possibly both? remember it was dorian's extraordinary "personality" that appeals to basil but is basil also guilty of to much adoration? you can detest oscar and morrissey but is wilde's influence really all bad or all good? wilde would disagree. thank you for reading and my email is there "wide to receive" you critism. I am afraid I lost the will to live before I got too far though this one. Are you an english teacher or something? What do you want from us to make you go away?. A book isnt for studying and ripping apart by pseudo intellectuals who devote their time coming up with crap like yours!

A book is something you not only blankly read, but also study to find the true meaning of the text. You can't go through your life expecting everything that you read to be overly simple so that you don't have to exert your mind in any way to understand it. If you have that belief I would suggest that you give up reading all together.

And, why is it that when someone uses correct grammer, and makes a good point, that they are reffered to as "psudo intellectuals". Are you really that intellectually challenged that you're threatened by a few good ideas.

Anyone who would recomend the cessation of reading for any reason whatsoever has to be a complete moron. The general lack of sufficient reading in the population as a whole is what leads to bandwaggon-jumpers like you missing the point in the first place!

I was merely suggesting that there is no reason to ravage and rape a text in order to enjoy it for what it is, something quite beautiful. It is also possible to draw meaning from a text without picking the flesh from the bones, arse wipe. How the F U C K does she know what Wilde was thinking and what makes her want to humiliate herself internationally by stating poorly what she has obviously read off the fly leaf! And as for the grammar...
