Morrissey has been seeking the advice of respected aesthetes and close confidants, such as myself, as to what it should be called. A couple of weeks ago, I told him that I favoured "Still Ill" and arranged for some of the nuns who work in the convent's printing press here in Los Angeles to do up a suitable cover. He later called around and was very polite and impressed with the draft, but said it reminded him a bit too much of the film "Kill Bill" .
We chatted about the film, which he liked by the way (prefferring Volume 2 to Volume 1). We both agreed that Uma Thurman was quite good as Bill's girlfriend.
"She was in a coma for quite some time, wasn't she?" said Morrissey.
"Yes", I said
"Yes...mmmm...", he said scratching his chin.
"well I think...yes....that's somewhat of a coincidence. Thank you Sister"
And he left rather abruptly.
The next I heard from him was a phone call from him the other night from Santiago, Chile. In the midst of chit chat about a priest who was following him around looking for marmalade, I asked him if he had any more thoughts on the title of his autobiography.
"Mmm..yes...well when I get back to LA I'm going to go for eh...'Girlfriend In a Coma'", he said to me
"Ahh..a symbol of perennial unrequited love?", I proffered
"yes.....quite so, amongst other things...mmm...such my fans", he said.
"Very good!".
I hope this clears up confusion.
