Yeah, I just took it earlier, thought it might make you smile
Not quite Jackboots, just some old Motorbike boots, but I did my best lol

    Point taken about Moz 23.
Maybe I was a bit hard on him in subsequent posts, but I stand by my original post.
In my view, he should have typed out one post that covered everything he wanted to say, & not swamped the board, but I've said my bit & I won't hold it against him.

Freddie Mercury? Gay? Aww, yer havin' us on surely. Freddie Mercury was gay? Two blokes? Kissin' 'n' that? Urrrggghhhh!! You must think we're stupid!!

Anyway, he can't have been gay cos he had a moustache & was really manly, not all poofy or like a girl.

Why would he be gay when he could have any woman he wanted? Tell me that then! It's just people who don't like Queen who try to make out Freddie was gay, same as people who don't like Morrissey call him gay as well.

Morrissey has short hair, doesn't wear make up or dresses & walks like a normal person. It's not as if he's always looking at men's arses.

I get really annoyed when people say Morrissey is gay. It makes me want to go up to them & shout in their faces really loud "MORRISSEY IS NOT GAY SO YOU CAN SHUT YOUR STUPID LYING FACE UP".

Tell your mum that Freddie Mercury was definitely not gay. Not even in that 'I want to break free' video, where he was dressed up like a lady.

Yeah, well, even MORRISSEY likes Queen, so don't diss Freddie. Although he wasn't the most attractive man in the world, he was a very talented man, who was loved by millions of fans all over the world.

You do know I was pretending to be stupid & being 'ironic' again. I do that a lot.

Freddie was as bent as a nine bob note & I've long believed Morrissey to be gay, & would be astonished to learn that he isn't.

Not that it matters a jot anyway.

    Does Morrissey like Queen?

    I've never heard that before.

Their early singles were great & Bohemian Rhapsody was a masterpiece, but after that they were quite awful.

That's probably why they became so popular in America.

No, they make their own arguments up on here freeyourself.
When it suits the purpose, Morrissey loves everyone.
I thought Queen were pretty crap too. Started on a promising note with Seven seas of Rye, lost interest then.

Good afternoon, freeyourself, it's 6AM and I haven't slept ALL NIGHT. So, that's why I am here. Yes, I did read somewhere that Morrissey admired Queen and wanted to be as popular as they were. Yesh, I agree, the older stuff is great but the newer ones were terrible. And as soon as I get in at LEAST 3 hours of sleep, I am going to the polling place, and I am making my vote for KERRY. So if you should hear a piercing scream tonight across the pond, it was only me, getting ready for the big letdown. God please if you exist let Kerry win! Thank you, and good afternoon.

Colleen is correct, Freddie was bi. His closest relationship seems to have been with his live-in girlfriend Mary, whom he remained close friends with even after they broke up.

But what's this about Freddie being ugly?! Despite his buck teeth, I always thought he was incredibly sexy. Not to mention a brilliant musician, singer and songwriter.

Freddie did enjoy an odd relationship with the 'Mary' you refer to, which may have even been consumated during the 70's, but for the last 10 years or more of his life he was exclusively gay, & was definitely living as an out gay man by the time of his death.

Default Not to split hairs, but FM considered himself bisexual

I agree that it doesn't matter one way or the other, but just going from Mr. Mercury's own words/quotes about the subject, it seems he considered himself bisexual because he had experienced relationships with both men and women. I know that's considered "politically incorrect" these days when everyone is supposed to be either gay or straight, but it wasn't always that way.

Also, I have no idea if these claims are accurate, but in a Queen documentary on VH1, it was said that Freddie was with both male and female groupies when the band was on tour in the 70s. As for him being exclusively with men in the last years of his life, it's very typical for bisexuals to be oriented to one gender at different points in their lives. Some people tend to assume that bi's are attracted to/"date" both genders concurrently, bit it ain't always so.

It really doesn't matter to me if he was gay as an Easter bonnet though, I just love his music...

Well, I'm sure his partner of a number of years, who is male btw & was with him as he died, would suggest otherwise.

If a man has been sleeping with another man exclusively, for a number of years, especially if they both have thick moustaches, I think it's fairly safe to assume he's gay.

I don't imagine Freddie envisaged having sex with a woman again, considering he was with a man who he loved & was happy with.

When does a previously heterosexual man, who has, for whatever reason, stopped sleeping with women & began sleeping exclusively with men, stop being considered 'bisexual' & start being referred to as 'gay' anyway?

It is a rather absurd question of course, but I believe our sexuality is defined by who(or what...) we are having sex with & what we identify ourselves as. Although, admittedly, some people fluctuate between men & women, even after long periods with one or the other, which they are perfectly entitled to do. It just goes to show really how ridiculous these labels are.

But for the sake of argument.......

I think Freddie had realised long before his death what his preferences were, & couldn't have been more gay were he to have had a male lover who he lived with, slept with & had sex with, having decided years ago he wasn't interested in women sexually.

btw, I'm 'gay' too, having lived as a 'gay' for 6/7 years, after previously being 'straight' for 30 odd years, so I think I'm quite well equipped to understand where Freddie was coming from. As it were.

I'm sure you're right. But Freddie did call his ex-girlfriend Mary Austin the love of his life, so one shouldn't entirely dismiss that aspect of him either. He left his house to her when he died. Just saying...

    > If a man has been sleeping with another man exclusively, for a number of

Perfectly reasonable. Especially that bit about the moustaches

    > I don't imagine Freddie envisaged having sex with a woman again,
    > considering he was with a man who he loved & was happy with.

One assumes, but now we're getting into speculating on someone's thoughts -- I have no idea! Freddie once remarked in his breezy way, "I've had relationships with men and women. None of them have worked out." I hope his last relationship was fulfilling, he deserved it (as everyone does).

    > When does a previously heterosexual man, who has, for whatever reason,
    > stopped sleeping with women & began sleeping exclusively with men,
    > stop being considered 'bisexual' & start being referred to as 'gay'

That would be up to him, wouldn't it? But my (admittedly obscure) point was that even if the man genuinely considered & declared himself to be bisexual, people tend to discount that and claim the man is actually gay and in denial. BTW, the inverse seems to be true when it comes to perceptions of bisexual/gay women.

    > It is a rather absurd question of course, but I believe our sexuality is

Agreed. As far as I know, Freddie identified himself (at least publicly) as bisexual, and that's why I was making a point of it. Or it could be that he considered himself bisexual when he was younger, but eventually realised he preferred men. It's all good.

He left her a property in London, but left his home, along with most of his money, to the partner, he had shared the last few years of his life with (who's name, for the life of me, I can't remember).

    > That would be up to him, wouldn't it?

Not at all. it's up to other's how they choose to refer to someone else, & I suspect an overwhelming majority of people, who know anything about Freddie's life, would consider him gay.

    Or it could be
    > that he considered himself bisexual when he was younger,

    I imagine so.

    but eventually
    > realised he preferred men.

    It does seem logical.

    "It's all good."

    Indeed it is.
