They have a "Classic Covers" pullout today. One of them is Moz in 1986 - for those who remember it was a grey picture of Moz with steely blue eyes. Ian Pye, the editor at the time, writes.."I know Morrissey didn't like this cover, he thought he looked like Michael Heseltine. He told me in person! This image was before the silly period when he wouldn't deal with the NME. Years later NME slagged him off for drapig himself in a Union Jack flag, and he suddenly went from being our friend to our enemy. I'm glad that he talks to the NME these days. We didn't get to put the coverlines. It was simply a celebration of how good the photography was. We did a lot of experimental things with our covers back then. I'm very proud that I was responsible for the NME's worst cover ever - Cilla Black when she started doing Blind Date. What was I thinking?"

Re: Here's the Cover

That's it - he looks a bit pissed off on this one, almost like "Oh Christ, another stifled Friday night", to quote.
