What are peoples views on song fade outs?
I prefer a proper ending myself and I`m not just talking of Morrissey but songs in general. To me, a fade out is a cop out....couldnt think of an ending so gradually fade the music to silence...Fade ups too the same.On stage a song ends not fades away so I like album tracks to do the same.
One exception to this rule in my view is Five Years by David Bowie, where the drums fade up at the beginning and fade down at the end.It fits in with the song.
Anybody know of any other songs where a fade out is more appropiate than an ending?
