How we can help "UNDO" Prop. 22

H

Hated For Loving

Guest
I have spent much time tonite reading thru all of this Morrissey's sexuality debate and the Prop. 22 debate.
I am deeply saddened at the passing of Prop.22. Why? It was simply unnecessary.
Even tho I have chose to hurl myself in my lil box labeled "straight", I'm sad to see my friends around me who are heartbroken because they will never be "recognized" in our society. Prop. 22 passing will not stop homosexuality. It is not for us to judge or try to understand it simply is....
As someone mentioned in one of the many posts I've read tonite...
Love is greater than gender...
I probably screwed that up. To me Love is Love.
Can you imagine how you would feel if a vote helped you to realize that no one will ever accept your love?
As a fellow Smiths and Moz fan I dunno why I felt compelled to post this here
But maybe... just maybe I will help to get this message out to others who want to help out in this area to "undo" Prop. 22.
Please visit this web-site where you can download petitions to help the cause....

If you are truly in support of this..We don't need any ignorant people visiting this site and speading their hate.
Viva Moz!

republicans and christian fascists

thanks hated for loving...i hadn't seen that website before.

to everyone:
i am frequently sickened by the posts on this board. being a morrissey fan means nothing - i have met more than my fair share of idiots who are "fans."

the republican party supports bigotry. proposition 22 was all about bigotry. these right-wing christians do not believe in freedom or individual rights - they simply want to force their narrow-minded, ill-informed "morals" on the whole of america through political and legal means. this, of course, overlooks the fact that we are supposed to have a separation of church and state in this country.

if you vote republican, you are are a supporter of bigotry. and if you vote for bush; you are an idiot, just like george himself.

I'm a Republican who consciously tries not to GENERALIZE about others. I feel you aren't making a very strong case when you come off sounding extremely narrow minded in your diatribe. By the way...you forgot to CAPITALIZE " Christians".

Who has the right to tell YOU how to vote and call you names if you don't think the way they do?

You hit on some important points that I concur with as well. The thing is that this country to so divided on nearly every issue, that it is hard to get anything done. I just don't want prayer in our public schools, the dissolution of the NEA, a lackadaissical approach to gun control, and tax breaks for the wealthy. I'm pro choice, pro gay, pro gun-laws, anti-censorship, campaign finance reform, etc. I'd like to think that this nation could learn to compromise, but it's not very likely.

I feel like you do, and I'm glad you posted. I can't figure out how people can be so stupid. Why can't we just let each other live our lives and try and find happiness? Why do so-called Christians seem so committed to preventing, even outlawing, the happiness of people they personally dislike?

The silver lining was revealed by some of Larry King's guests last night (this was the topic). The election results reveal that among those under 30, gay marriage is supported. Unfortunately these things take time, but fortunately it is inevitiable that when young Americans take over we'll change this election result. Hopefully the courts will step in before that though, because civil rights are not things which should be put to popular vote.

BTW, you don't need to appologize for posting a political message. I just posted too long ones myself! Rock 'n' roll has always been political, and those who try and separate the music from what's going on in the world are fools.

Yes, George W. is an idiot who offers nothing as a leader except allowing the Christian right into greater power over us all. But you must remember that Bill Clinton signed the Defense of MArriage Act, which reveals he's on the right wing side of the gay marriage issue as well.

There's nothing wrong with calling names based on what people believe. You label yourself a "Republican," so we must assume you support the Republican platform, or most of it. Only an idiot can support that platform.

Similarly, chritianity is a belief system, and everyone has a right to attack beliefs. I get so tired of Christians who try and say someone is a bigot if they hate Christian beliefs. Would I be a bigot if I said I hate Communist beleifs? Same thing.

Yes, you would be a bigot if you remember what happened in the McCarthy era and still supported hated communists.

Our system is not based on the idea that the government is supposed to get things done. Politics in America is supposed to be a contentious process. Jefferson said that "free government is founded in jealousy"; John Quincy Adams noted the what they had created was not "democracy the most simple," but "the most complicated government on the face of the globe." Whenever I hear someone say that nothing gets done in Washington, I reflect that the Founders wanted it so. And it works! Our elected officals are mostly harmless. They very seldom can act on their personal agendas - if they could, there would be no capital gains tax, prayers on the lips of our schoolchildren, and back alley abortions.

That said, I am dissapointed by my fellow Californians who voted overhwhelmly for Prop. 22. Conservatives constantly harp on getting government out our lives, except for when it comes to personal freedom. Then they want to dictate who we worship, what we look at and listen to, who we sleep with and and what we do with our bodies.

Al gores wife is the music banning nazi. The people of california have spoken. society isn't ready to throw all it's morals and values down the drain . > Conservatives
