Song before Moz

I went to see Morrissey live on the 22nd May in Manchester and before he came on they were playing some old sounding jazz tunes and one that stuck in my head had a chorus that sounded like...'i would go out but i'm sober and it's raining' or 'i would go out but its over and its raining'...it's a woman singer and just wondered if anyone knew the song and could e-mail me the answer.

It's "Single" by Pony Club from their first album "Home Truths." You can listen to a sample here - http://www.ponyclub.tv/audio.htm The singer is Mark Cullen BTW, not a female.

Beautiful isn't it? Apparently the album from which it comes is out of print. Great marketing ploy (sarc) when it's given as a taster available on Morrissey's 'Songs to save your life' NME compilation....
