Unless Sanctuary does something extraordinarily impressive with its marketing campaign, there is no way that 'Let Me Kiss You' will be a top 10 UK hit. There are several reasons for this:

1) The song is less catchy than 'Irish Blood' and 'First of the Gang" which peaked at #3 & # 6, respectively.

2) If you have purchased the album with DVD, the first single, the second single, and the DVD for the second single, you have spent about $35 on Moz for Quarry or 35 Pounds (about $70 USD, given this "2 part" business and the fact that everything costs more in the UK) so many fans may abstain from spending more on Moz. Of course, if you went to some shows you've spent alot more.

3) As the album is a great success, there is less urgency now to run out and make the next single a big hit.

4) While the b-sides so far for Quarry have been good, I don't see many people saying they were blown away by any of them.

5) While I like the live 'First of the Gang' video, there has not been a proper video of Quarry yet as the 'Irish Blood' video was complete cobblers.

With an artistic video that tells a story and is visually impressive, a creative marketing campaign, some Moz signings for 'Let Me Kiss You', it could all work out fantastically. Otherwise, this song will not be a top 10 UK hit which would be supremely disappointing given the success that Morrissey has experienced lately.

I think this release is pretty pointless myself. I think the song is great but I don't see any reason for releasing another single from the album. They'd be much better concentrating on promoting the album.

The whole thing of releasing Nancy's version at the same time is pathetic of Sanctuary. It seems so contrived.

releasing another single IS PROMOTING THE ALBUM!

and two versions of one song WILL bring attention to both

You only need to shift about 10,000 copies to go top ten. There should be enough fans who buy everything to sell that many copies. Videos mean very little. The Cure video did very well on the NME chart but on sales it only charted in the mid-twenties.

And The Never Played Symphonies did blow me away and continues to do so.

Also, what workshy said about singles promoting albums - obviously.

b-sides, b-sides, b-sides! how else will we hear them?
Blown Away by It's Hard To Walk....and Teenage Dad..

I think the point is that Sanctuary needs to razzle us & dazzle us...

I don't think it matters a rats cock whether LMKY is Top Ten or not.
The whole charts system is a bag of shite.Morrissey's best chance for a number one was FOTGTD,and when I saw the dross he was up against,I almost vomited, because I never look at the charts these days.Charts are no longer,if indeed they ever were,a barometer of taste and are not the hotly contested arena they once were.To see the appalling Kiddy Pop Pap,Dance Drivel and (c)Rap he was up against in the UK charts for FOTGTD only convinced me further of this.
As for the song itself,it is a grower.I was not mad about it when I first heard it on the album, but on repeated listening it has become one of my top 4 from YATQ.
I will definitely buy the single in whatever formats, plus we will have B-sides to look forward to.
So let's be positive and enjoy what we thought we might never have again:New Morrissey Releases!

So far for YATQ and the singles I've only spent $29.96 US dollars...

Album w/dvd = $14.99
FOTGTD cd single = $4.99
FOTGTD dvd single = $4.99
IBEH cd single = $4.99

You folks in the UK are getting raped.

Re: $$ in America

www.amazon.co.uk

YATQ w/ DVD - 12.99

Irish Blood (CD) - 4.99

FOTGTD (DVD) - 4.99

FOTGTD (CD) - 4.99

total in Pounds Sterling = 28 Pounds

1.00 British Pound = 1.82 U.S. Dollars

28 x 1.82 = 50.96

also note Amazon is a discount site and the exchange rates before were even worse thus putting this number closer to $60

Re: $$ in America

It's roughly equivalent. £23 should cover the five items.

amazon is not a gauge to determine prices in the uk - i mean its a total rip off!!!!

Re: $$ in America

These prices are wrong. It's £1.99 for a regular CD single and £2.99 for one with extras in proper record shops and even at most of the other online retailers.

UK is always a total rip-off with everything sold there - the same CDs were heaps cheaper in Oz.
