I love this song, but recently something happened to me that disturbed me and made me upset. For the first time since buying the album 8 years ago, I started to listen to the words of the song, and what hit me was the whole tone of it. I mean, do you think Morrissey is suggesting that the processing of animals for food is 'murder'? If so, does that make someone who eats meat an accessory to murder?
Curoius, I tested this out last week when I walked into my local police station with a KFC juicy fillet burger in my hand. I sat in the reception and slowly unwrapped it, then proceeding to eat it in full view of the desk officer. Then I walked up to him and said "arrest me, I am an accessory to murder!". Not sursprisingly, he told me to fuck off.
So can anyone out there really give me some solid evidence that meat is indeed murder? I will be studying a law degree soon, so I don't want to get barred for committing a criminal offence if I can avoid it.
Thanks
Jimmy
