For anyone interested I bought the new Cure Album (titled "The Cure") this morning and I`m glad I did.

I was in two minds as I`m only a casual fan,but after only a couple of plays (one on the way home in the car and one on my hi-fi) it is growing on me big time.

Well worth checking it out!

Re: If Robert Smith is The Cure, then I'll put up with the infection.

I'm simply not interested I'd rather hear Morrissey singing Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep

All together now:

Last night,
I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning
and my mama was gone
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep, Chirp

I've never really understood the appeal of the Cure.I did buy a few of their early singles but the album "Pornography" was the final chapter for me.

I always thought Echo And The Bunnymen were light years ahead of them.

Glad you are enjoying it though.

In my opinion, the Cure should of gone out with "Disintegration." That is easily their masterpiece. I still occasionly listen to it to this day. Actually, at the time Smith claimed he WAS hanging it up, as he does with every album, but then they came back with another 4-5 albums, all of which border on embarrassing.

I find The Cure so unbelievably tedious. The Bunnymen were great musicans, I loves Will Sergants scratchy guitar on the first 2 albums, and Les and Pete De Frietas were one top rythem section. Those 3 really aren't too far of Marr/Rourke/Joyce in my opinion, not into McCulloch's style of songwriting though.
