anyone else have this mp3, and know anything about this song?, which the dj describes as being morrissey's next single.

Re: It's a fake (also known as "Melanie")

I can't take credit for revealing it as a fake, it's just general knowledge (but one can sort of tell it's not Moz singing at certain points in the song). Although I do have a recording of Boz referring to it, which seems to support this. He says:

"Kit was an unreleased Morrissey song from the Maladjusted sessions, and uh, there was something being hocked around on the internet as an unreleased Morrissey song at the time, some girl's name ["Melanie"], but there's not many of them. But this is one of them, this is called Kit".

I have an MP3 of Boz performing it with his own band (therefore, no Morrissey). I assume that Moz did, however, write the lyrics, which are as follows:

The pictures must come down
You are now 28 for Chrissakes
Kit, Kit, Kit, oh please
Risk a smile for us, go on, oh
We're always here for you, we'll order drinks for you,
we'll pick you up and take you back home
just to get some changes made oh Kit, oh Kit
Cigarette butts must go,
But you protest: "His lonely lips were pressed against them", so
Kit, Kit, Kit, oh please
Risk a smile for us, go on, oh
We're always here for you, we'll order drinks for you,
we'll pick you up and take you back home
just to get some changes made, oh Kit, oh Kit

In addition to the previous comments, Boz also says (after performing the song):

"It's slightly longer than that, and it has got some strings and horns in it, but that's the general idea of it. And I don't know why it, um, why we never ended up finishing it, but um, I rather liked it."

Yep.
