That's a great compilation. Barbecutie is a gem. And my band covers 'Time for heroes', immortal lines, "nothing more distressing than an englishman in a baseball hat.." so it can't be that bad either.

But saying it's great is rather stating the obvious.

Wow, thank you! I can't wait to get me grubby mitts on this!

Here is the tracklisting for anyone having trouble reading it in the picture:

Morrissey - The Never Played Symphonies
The Killers - Jenny Was a Friend Of Mine
Gene - Fighting Fit
Sparks - Barbecutie
The Slits - Love and Romance
The Ordinary Boys - (Little) Bubble
New York Dolls - Vietnamese Baby
Franz Ferdinand - Jacqueline (live)
Raymonde - No one Can Hold A Candle To You
Ludus - Let Me Go Where My Pictures Go
Sack - Colorado Springs
Remma - Worry Young (demo version)
Pony Club - Single
Jobriath - Morning Star Ship
Damien Dempsey - Factories
The Libertines - Time For Heroes
Sir John Betjeman - A Child Ill

If anything, it's better than "Under The Influence", and free, too. (Well, free with a magazine, anyway.)

I'm looking forward to finally hearing Jobriath.

Too bad The Imperfect List is not included on it....

Didn't last week's edition promise a rare Morrissey track? that'll be the B-side of the latest single then.

Mustn't complain. Looks like this will be the first time for a while that the NME is worth it's cover price.

I think you may be right!

NME now has brief clips of each song available here:

Could anyone send it to me??? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Has anyone heard the *whole* Remma track ?

If, so what did you think ? And does anyone know anything about the single they're supposed to be releasing on Attack ?

What's the connection with Morrissey and The Slits and also "Ari Up" at Meltdown, how did they come to be involved in all of this ?

Love & Romance is a hilarious song

Morrissey had this to say in his recent Time Out interview:

"Ari Up has, I think, remained her true self. The Slits were about the shock of self-recognition. As a meagre fan, I would've loved four, five or six albums, instead of just the one."

That's all I could find on the subject, I'm afraid.

Ahh thanks for that. The Slits did 2 albums though, 'The Cut' and 'Return Of The Giant Slits'. The later material was not great, it was much more appropriate for a band like The Slits to do their thing and move along before they took themselves too seriously.

As they remarked about the pistols in 'So Tough'

Sid is only curious
John, don't take it serious
