What do you think about the habit some fans have of using typical Morrisseyesque language? Examples: calling things 'vile' and 'tacky'.

In a way, I think it is a rather sweet, but over the years I have gradually become increasingly annoyed by it.

i agree. as if the jackass isn't annoying enough, people trying to imitate the jackass are even more annoying.

I find the phrase "jackass" even more annoying and usually only used by left handed wankers... or Americans... which is obviously the same thing..

I was talking about this just on Friday.. Morrissey's over-use of 'terribly', and 'possibly' were tow other often used turns of pharse.
'How could anyone possibly know how it feels, it was all so terribly boring..'

.. see, I even sound like Morrissey. Least I didn't resort to using Shit in two songs (rather unimaginatively!) which I still don't like on YATQ.

I know what you mean. I don't mind the idea of the lyric behind the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday thing on I Have Forgiven Jesus, but then you get 'Thursday is pathetic' just when you are expecting him to pull some great one liner out of the sky, or out of anywhere else for that matter.

I like 'How Could Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel' though, it's a great start to the second side (if you have it on vinyl that is), especially after the deflating ending to Side A with the dirge that is Crashing Bores, such a come down after a great track like I'm Not Sorry.

I agree totally Mr O'reilly on the sloppy (and lazy in some ways) lyrics.. trying too hard for my liking, for example, 'slate grey victorian skies..' sounds so contrived.. and yep, 'Crashing bores' is a bore! Maybe there is an irony in there! 'How Could anybody..' is a great song you're right.. Still, YATQ for me is far from the best album I've heard this year. But it's a slow burner.

Buy the new Coxon album ';happiness in magazines'.. infused with punk attitude .
