'Bush should have died, not Reagan': Morrissey

CONTROVERSIAL: Morrissey

MANCHESTER music legend Morrissey sparked controversy when he announced Ronald Reagan's death live on stage during a concert - and then declared he wished it was George Bush who had died instead.

Thousands of fans at Dublin Castle, in Ireland, cheered when the ex-Smiths frontman made the announcement that the former American president, who had battled with Alzheimer's Disease, had passed away.

And an even bigger cheer followed when Morrissey - who is no stranger to controversy - then said he wished it had been the current President, George W Bush, who had died.

Fan Tony Murray said: "He commented about the death of Ronald Reagan and when he wished that it was George W instead the crowd went wild."

The Dublin concert was the latest leg of Morrissey's European tour, which began at the M.E.N. Arena last month when the ever-popular performer made his first appearance in the city for 12 years.

He is due to appear at the Move festival at Old Trafford cricket ground next month.

A spokesman for Morrissey's record label, Sanctuary Records, said: "We do not have a recording of the gig, but as far as we can tell, Morrissey was just alerting the audience to the fact that Ronald Reagan had died.

"He then simply followed that up with his comment about George Bush, which was his own opinion. He is no stranger to controversy."

Moz wants American fans by calling Americans "fat pigs," & cheering the death of a President?

Moz: How do you know what they say in Estonia, you've never been there, dummy

America is very popular in Estonia. Reagan liberated them, you empty-headed Brit-pop singer

Morrissey: Were you forced to move to America? No one's forcing you to stay

Oh yeah I forgot. Moz moved to America to avoid Mike Joyce's court victories!

I concur COMPLETELY. At least Morrissey knows who the EVIL ONES ARE. So what if he said it. I APPLAUD it. I yelled "YAYYYY!" when Reagan's death was announced. When he was shot in 1980- I was 18 then, and came home from work, my mother said, "Reagan's been shot". I looked at the newspaper and said, "Is he dead?". Colleen/Kali PS- BUSH is too stupid to die- he'll live to be 93 just like brain dead Reagan. Now, Altzheimer's (sic) is a TERRIBLE way to go ( my favorite novelist, Iris Murdoch died because of it, but then, SHE was brilliant, it was more of a loss)

"Proud Yankee"......I am ASHAMED to be an American. Your name says it all. Why not go to Iraq, and pitch in, and help fight that glorious war? Doubleplusgood, I say.

How do you know who the "Evil Ones" are?

You're one of Morrissey's empty-headed trained seals, will cheer anything
he says or does.

So if you don't like Reagan you have to paint him as Hitler and bin Laden
wrapped up into one?

Why don't you face the reality that Morrissey doesn't know anything
about Reagan and is just saying things to sell records.

Does Morrissey wonder why in Estonia they say: "Thank God the USSR
lost the cold war?"

You cry-baby. If you're "ashamed" to be an American why do you
choose to be on?

Estonia is happy to be liberated from the Evil Empire the USSR.
Thank you Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.

Big whoop. Seriously. The man was 93 years old. He had to go sometime.

And for the record, I don't really hope that Bush dies. He's pretty much a puppet. Cheney is pulling the strings and he's far worse. Although, I bet if Bush died and Cheney ran for President, he would not win.

But Morrissey is trying to peddle a collection of low quality
songs so he has to spark some controversy.

Re: Morrissey: Were you forced to move to America? No one's forcing you to stay

Morrissey can stay wherever he likes, and if that includes AMERIKA, so be it. Thank goodness that only 45% of the population think the way you do. WHY ARE YOU EVEN A MORRISSEY * FAN *? should I start watching Pat Robertson now and clutching my bible in horror? LOL

Re: Oh yeah I forgot. Moz moved to America to avoid Mike Joyce's court victories!

You truly ARE an idiot...enough

Hmmm, you certainly do not sound like a rational human being. You're spouting your shit on a MORRISSEY site, fool. Trained seal, me? uhhh no. I didn't cheer him in 97' when he was in San Diego and we were cold and he said," are you cold, good!" No, I am not a trained seal. I have been a Morrissey *fan* since 1984- before you were probably even born, and I can see politics, especially U.S politics in a much clearer way than you ever will. Remember Ollie North? He wanted Martial Law back in 1987. Freedom of speech, a joke. No, I thought Reagan was a dithering fool and *Dubya* is even worse, can't even read off of a teleprompter. Moz READS- nonfiction- that tells me a lot about the man. I bet the only thing you read is the bible. This is 2004, LEARN SOMETHING. YES, it WAS a groundbreaking moment when Reagan and Gorby tore down the Wall. It improved, in some ways. But now with the advent of your hero *Dubya*- it's only going to get worse. Bet on it.

Re: Proud Yankee is a Stupid Wankee

You're giving him too much credit. The bible says one cannot spill his seed.

Re: Morrissey: Were you forced to move to America? No one's forcing you to stay

Little girl you don't know how I think.

I know how you think.

Anything Morrissey says you agree with.

Slave.

Fair question: When Morrissey can live anywhere in the world,
why does he live in a country of "big fat bigs" and "terrorists"
run by leaders he wishes death upon?

Sounds to me like he's trying to sell records.

All he cares about is fame and fortune.

Face reality.

He's a greedy and self-absorbed person.

You do not support democracy, you support assasination

Little girl, what you said was you were happy when Reagan was SHOT.

Therefore you do not support DEMOCRACY.

Rather then winning through ideas and debate, you'd rather
someone you disagree with who is elected BY THE PEOPLE
be shot to death. That is what you posted.

You are deranged.

I understand why Morrissey says stupid shit.
He's trying to sell records. He didn't have a word
to say when a product of his wasn't on the shelf.

But you, you actually believe this shit.
