thats why i like the x-files, but when it goes off the air, i don't know what i'll do then. i only tolerate Malcolm in the middle because it;s sandwiched between the simpsons and x-files on sunday, but i haven't kept up with TV a whole lot. I feel out of the loop.

what else productive is there to do?

I got bored this weekend and actually bought Johnny Marr's latest Electronic album. It's not too bad and a few of the songs have grown on me...of course, i need more time to sit down with it and get through the subtleties. Much better than that stupid Clinton album. A couple of good songs, but it sounds like somebody got out their Wal-Mart special Casio keyboard and hit the demonstration button on it.

I can honestly say I do like a lot of his post smith's stuff, even if I'm not incredibly familiar with all of it. Those Billy Bragg songs he collaborated with were my favorites on the CD.

Today, there are hardly any songs on the radio with extended and elaborate guitar solos.

i'm talking about the packaging of a lifestyle. Even that Michael Bracewell article packaged him as the poor old lonelyheart who is hated by everyone, but also happens to have fine taste in furniture. Contrast that with him selling out concerts and having everyone climb on stage so they can rub themselves all over him. Even if very few of those people would have him for anything beyond casual sex, that is still more than what most of us get offered. Most people do not have much of a choice.

This is a really good thing to do. See the great singers of our time: Christina Aguillera, Natalie Imbruglia, Mariah Carey. They think the same way about music.

My brother saw once my mother and her sisters making such a confusion with names that they called others by their own names... But you have to agree if everybody around you is called "Teresa" there's little misunderstandings to be expected, don't you think?

I love Files-X too. I think the new series didn't begin in Brazil yet. And I have never heard about Malcolm. I watched some Simpsons some years ago but I stoped to watch it.

But what is "more more than what most of us get offered" exactly? Kurt Cobain had all this things and he killed himself. Success simply doesn't change the way people see life. The happier people I have ever talked to were some Carmelites...

Lots of people talked to Jesus. He wasn't a snob. What people fail to realize when they talk about christianity and the ultra conservatives who hate everyone is that Jesus wasn't into that. He hung out with the dregs of society and treated them as equal to any person of royalty. He didn't shun them. He would have been the last person to stand outside a funeral for a gay man with a sign that says, "God hates fags."

I've heard of some who claimed they had a vision on their near-death bed and saw Jesus, and Jesus supposedly told them something to do. Guess what? I'm not going to pray to them.

oh fer crying in the beer....am I the only person on this board that does not really care if the split happened? But you've been following it much longer than I have.

All the stories people report back about the tour are starting to depress me a bit. It sounds like everyone is married with children or have slid into their yuppie life. I guess that shouldn't be a bad thing since we can't be young forever, but still, I have no business being in the adult world.

No wonder we get so many complaints about MTV around here. As my parents have their Judy Collins albums this listen to non stop, I have my Morrissey.

Someone I know had gotten one of those compilation CD's with hair metal music like Poison. The liner notes said something like, "as the teenagers of then hit the big 3-0, then they will have this album to keep them from turning into their parents."

But think if everyone on this planet decided that happiness was nothing more than sitting around and feeling God. You would have no more albums of any kind period. There would be no point in seeing movies, getting out of bed in the morning, or falling in love. The human race would die off because nobody would have children. You have a need for everyday materialistic wants for a very good reason.

You see Suzanne I believe in an interventionist God. I think God wouldn't let a fake vision be known and be believed for Centuries. And I read most of Saint Teresa's works, and she is completely lucid, all the time. It's completely different from a text written by someone crazy or with bad intentions.

I don't care about the split either, because I think Morrissey's career is a single one, with or without the Smiths... You see I knew Smiths in the eighties without knowing the lyrics. So I liked it but I prefered Echo and The Bunnymen and Prince. Only when I began to understand Morrissey lyrics I became a real fan. But I am a little bit angry about Johnny Marr... I don't think he deserves such an attention... well, I may be wrong.

Ant today I earned as gift a Flamenco cd given by my sister who lives in Spain. Marvelous - principally when only accoustic.

oh, i'm so jealous. here i've been struggling to get something going for 2 years as far as a band or music and a group of my friends come together and form a jazz combo. they have all the instruments and I know they play/sing pretty well for the most part since they are in the college of music at UT.

true, i suppose, but I also think about the supposed Shroud of Tourin that was believed to be real for several centuries before carbon dating basically placed it as being created in 1400 AD....the year that this shroud was supposedly discovered.

well, me too, but I like the college years the best. Not because I had tons of fun, but because those are good years to be what you want. You are 21 and old enough to drink and pretend to be an adult, but young enough that you can do what you want and nobody really expects anything out of you. you sit in classes for about 3 hours a day and devote yourself to everything else you like afterwards. I don't make a very good adult. well, i didn't make a good adolescent either, but something has to win eventually. maybe i'll make a good senile and decripit granny in a nursing home in a few decades.

Anyway there's always a second point of view in faith subjects... you only have to chose betweem them.

There's no doubt we have some freedom when you are an adolescent that you lose when you are an adult. But you talked about "nobody expects anything out of you". Well, for me this was worse yet: everybody laughed at me... this hurted me too much... The persons I really liked were the worse ones to me...

yeah, well losing weight in such a way is never a good thing. you have to actually modify your eating habits to a way that will make you happy and you can feel like you aren't starving and stay with that. dieting is bad.

I'm just jealous of the circumstances involved. here is a bunch of dependable people who are friends and have a similar goal in what sort of music and sound they are going for and have equal skill on their instruments. here i am a person who is attempting a bit more for 2 years and i can't get it off the ground to save my life.

i don't know about that. we all have our needs. Morrissey's overall personality points to a monogamous relationship with everything around him. He's had the same songwriters for many years and keeps many of the same themes throughout the years and has never shown any desire to venture from that. Johnny on the other hand is more of a bed hopper. he gets involved with many things and drops them when he is tired of them. he didn't take Bernard Sumner along with him on his latest thing. he went off and dropped everything and involved himself with people who would bring something completely different to his music. as you see, their personalities are completely different in what they want out of people and it was eventually going to fall apart anyway. you can't help a person's nature.

hell, i still get laughed at and snubbed and i'm 25. oddly, i had a respite for a few years, but my current department i work at is full of gossipy and cliquish twits and i get left out quite a bit because i don't sit around and discuss my relationships or my clothing.

No doubt about it. There's a Spanish priest who lives in Brazil, and who appears two times a month at the most successful Brazilian TV program, that seems a skeptical, because he has a scientific way to see some strange cases.

Sometimes I think all his career is about the same subject.

There's no doubt about it.

But for me Johnny has no more importance than Alain White or Boz Boorer. Perhaps this is why I am a little bit mad about him.

oh, just to let you know Brazil is on the map, about a month ago, here in Austin, someone was hosting something called "carnivale Brasileiro." Ever since the damn yuppies driving their off-road cars from California started showing up in droves and subsequently pushing up the cost of living for us non-tech heads and making the middle class non existant, this town felt the need to make these people feel even more special and have a @#!!!ty version of everyone else's traditions. I don't know what the "Carnivale" was about since i figured it would suck, but I think it was held in a civic center and you had to have tickets for it.

They didn't want it conflicting with our brand new "mardi gras" that began happening last year in the club district, I guess. It's basically a bunch of Ford F-150's pulling a trailer with a bunch of low-rent calendar girls and models throwing beads to the crowds as drunken frat boys continually rush the "floats" and grab these girl's tits. I saw it one night last year, and I duly sit at home this go around.

heh, but they did tell me a few weeks ago that they had thought about naming their combo "stupid people don't need love" which I was honored, but of course had to say "hell no" since i don't want my own catchphrase worn out before anyone even hears the song.

but i have to say it, thank God a new producer is being brought in to come kick some ass. I was listening to Maladjusted at work today and I was thinking how it sounded like nobody was excited to play on it. It was the musical equivalent of walking through wet cement. Like it was so overladen....and it's not the musicianship. Iggy Pop could make things like "lust for life" with people who couldn't hardly play instruments, yet they made it sound exciting.

it never goes away. i meant to add that the reason why i mentioned these people is because the way they sit around and giggle is just like jr. high. i wish people like that had actually had to suffer a bit between here and now so it would force their personality to change.

i was just thinking the other day how relatively lazy the protestant religion is. you can show up to any church and take communion when you feel like it. nobody questions why you did it....and that's the way i like it, strangely enough. you can also belong to any sect of it such as the Methodists or Baptists and make a jump without missing anything or being shunned. Catholics like to shun people and they tell you that you are going to hell if you leave the church.

As for me, I was watching a film at TV that was about some crimes that ocurred in Austin... But my daughter didn't permit I watched the rest of the film.

The Carnival is one of our bigger traditions... the problem is the music: Carnival consists in 4 days where people goes to some places to dance horrible sambas. You can't imagine how horrible the most part of the sambas are. And there are the samba competions at Rio de Janeiro, the "escolas de samba" - a magnificent spetacle, but a little bit boring for those who doesn't understand the whole thing (me, for example). There are competions like those in all our mid size cities, and even in Curitiba, where the spectacle is the worst one of Brazil. Almost all people in my city goes to the beach (100 km of distance from here) and there it seems that the Carnival is exciting... for those who like Carnival.

And it's possible to see lots of almost nude women at TV - good, but boring too. And finally it seems that people makes LOTS of sex in Carnival - but of course it was never my case... hehehe.

I don't know... Sometimes I think Maladjusted is "overproduced" but I really feel moved when I hear some songs of this album.

I really think if someone is evil he will be evil whatever happens in his life. He may be more mature or whatever, but if his problem is lack of good sentiments this bad characteristic will stay with him.

You don't seem an atheist... Well, perhaps you are correct about the catholics. But I almost never go to Church, because of my daughter, and I still feel very catholic. The overall religion fits very well with me, it's a very beautiful and deep one.

oh, my ears are ringing. i just came back from seeing the Donna's and the smugglers and what an enjoyable show. Yes, the requisite couple who needed to get a room was inevitably drawn to my area while 99% of the normal folk were actually watching the show, but at least they weren;t in front of me. Instead, I had to put up with them bumping into me from behind as they swooned in the passion of their embrace.

I think when Lillywhite made the thing, he probably thought the best way to get this stuff on the radio was to gear it towards the sort of station that plays stuff for an older crowd....you know, brand new music, but with a bit of a dull edge like Sarah McLaughlin or Counting Crows that doesn't offend the people who listen to it at their jobs in the office.

Speaking of their album, it's very strange, but the last track has a very similar guitar outro like the one on Suffer Little Children. All the instruments drop out, and you have this very minor sounding guitar strum.
