Johnny Marr to play guitar at the MEN Arena show.

> Do you think it will happen?
Belligerent, I was lucky enough to see Marr play with Neil Finn here in San Diego as a guest guitarist- no one knew who he was except me! It was a surreal and strange moment. He sang, "Down On The Corner"- and Neil commented on Marr buying a new shirt for the show, but after the song, he said wryly, "was that depressing enough for ya?" No one got it. It just might happen, BG. Don't count it out. Blood.

He will not

It won't happen, it just doesn't make any sense. Sure, it would be cool to see them play together, but this is Morrissey's triumphant return to Manchester. Why distract people from the critically acclaimed new album, and highest ranking single ever with a blast from the past?

Oh, by the way, thanks a lot for posting your question as a statement instead of a question (e.g. Johnny Marr to play guitar at MEN Arena show.) Every wonder how rumors get started? Wonder no more... it's because of people like you. This is exactly how the Morrissey/Marr reunion at Coachella '99 rumor got started.

Re: He will

A few things newbie:

1) Ghoul usually posts his headlines in the most straightforward manner. Today he did posted as a statement and not a query to get more hits thereby calling attention to something important.

2) It does make sense because people want it to happen, to see Marr come out and play a couple songs with Moz. This is Manchester - anything is possible.

3) This is a rumour we want started.

4) Contribute something positive or sod off!!

yeah, he'll be outside buskin' for some spare change

Re: yeah, he'll be outside buskin' for some spare change

Marr is more of a festival bloke, so if it happens anywhere, it will be at Move. I cant see Morrissey letting Marr into his current new album publicity run as it will cause something of a smear in the press of Moz getting extra Smiths album sales or whatever. Im too high on pills to be analysing anything at the moment!

I wouldn't want Marr to ruin the new songs

Compare "Quarry" - a work of genius - with "the healers."

Thank God he's moved on from Marr.

Just like Alain, Boz, & Gary butcher Smiths' songs.

Yeah, they do. I've been to the concerts.

Re: He will

Newbie?? Alright, let's not get into a pissing match here.

1) There is nothing important in the original post.
2) To follow your line of reasoning, if enough people want Morrissey to throw a million pounds in the crowd, that will happen too.
3) The concept of a rumor that anyone wants to get started is totally foreign to me.
4) Fine, here is something positive:

I'll be at the Manchester gig on Saturday, I'm guessing you will too. If I walk around all week saying Johnny Marr will not join Morrissey on stage, and you walk around saying that he will:

- Who will be happier if it happens?
- Who will be more disappointed if it does not?

In general, all of this speculation about the Manchester show is unhealthy, and is only setting people up for disappointment. We should all be prepared for a show more or less like all of the other shows on this tour. That way, if he does add "Sheila Take A Bow", or play a two-hour set, or is joined by Nancy Sinatra or the Smiths, we will all be thrilled.

You Suzanne contribute nothing to this site so you might as well leave. All you do is cut and paste peoples conversations from the chat. 7 years on and you have said nothing of value. Go away.

________

What are you talking about? Johnny Marr may have lied when asked about it. Perhaps, The Smiths did meet in the 90's outside of Court.
