morrissey never stopped writing the lyrics, and he really never wrote the music. Maybe some input but for the most part thats left to someone else. I'd suggest reading the faq or just browsing some pages for info, or else your bound to be flamed by these people.

He comes up with his own vocal melodies (often with unconventional phrasing) and arranges songs to his own satisfaction (do that for ten bars, then do that ...) even though he doesn't know much about music theory or whatever.

Morrissey has never written his own music, only his own lyrics. Johnny Marr wrote all the Smiths music and Alain, etc, write all his stuff now.
