this evening on uk arena there was an hour long programme called
`later on.....the smiths`. It was put together by the makers of the bbc 2 program `later with jools holland`. It featured nearly all the
smiths top of the pops performances and then went on to show morrissey
solo appearances on various tv shows as well as electronic.
there was a slight clip of an interview with mark ellen where he asked morrissey and marr how the songs came about. It was like this:
Ellen: How do you put the songs together, do you come in with the words and then johnny puts the music to it?
Morrissey: no, no. johnny puts the music onto cassettes which i then
take and listen to and put words too, and its all done with a drop of
a...cassette!`.
It was a very good program, great to see all the old footage of the smiths, likewise all the great moz performances. it went out at 11.05
until 12.05.
