Gender nectar had a post on here about some show in NY trashing morrissey imn some "suck ass music" part of the show...I took the liberty to write this f***in douche, and here's the reply i got in my email address:

ok since you are mister know it all, which obviously you arent, what we
did was called a "bit". It, and I'm sure you didnt know this because
you obviously arent open to anything other than what you want to hear, is
called "Boss Lennys suck ass songs". That means that from the start my
side will be that it sucks and his point will be that it was great. I
am much older than you and can much more appreciate what Morrissey and
the Smiths have meant to music than you ever can. It is a good song.
Does it work for what we do....probably not. Again it was a bit we
do...stop being so serious for God's sake. Thankfully the bit was a success
because it brought an emotion out of you...oh and by the way...where were
you when we took callers? And why are you so negative? Loosen up man?
We dont play Sum 41 or Avril lavigne or Good Charlotte..and if need be
I'll prove it to ya...in the past yes...in the last six months or more
no. And by the way again because you think you know so much, you dont
know me at all...I HATE punk music and especially mall punk...hate
it!!!!! Doesnt mean that everybody else has to hate it. Lastly, where do you
think we get our "shitty" music from? Look at KROQ's playlist, if you
are intelligent enough to find it, look at ours and compare. Also, you
may not be smart enough to realize this either, but LA has 4 million
people more than Buffalo does which means more people to play to. We cant
narrowcast as much as they can. The ratings differences in LA are in
tenths...here they are in whole points...makes a huge difference as to
how liberal you can be with your playlist. And ya know what if you
actually knew how radio worked you would know that the DJ doesnt choose what
he plays.Ultimately it is the record companies and the listeners who
determine what gets on. Trust me if I had one request for the Smiths on
my show we might consider playing them. I have been on for over six
years and have gotten less than ten requests for that band. There are many
ways we can gauge what people want. One way was with that bit and as
you heard...70% of the listeners didnt like it. What can I tell you. And
there were a handful of positive calls too. Lastly, Morrissey doesnt
give 2 shits if you care about his new single...so dont stick up for him.
He knows you'll download his new album stripping him of whatever income
he might've made from a sale...1% or not. So relax and realize that the
whole thing is a joke but at the same time an opportunity for a song
that probably wont make it into rotation to get two immediate spins and
exposure to a group of people that it wouldnt have gotten exposure to.
Thanks.

Bull

Just goes to show...this guy used to play avril levigne records..wtf does he know??????

Of course hes going to say"its a good song" he doesnt want me coming down there.................If its a "good song" then why play it on your show?????? See,people still dont give moz love.......

Re: You Are In A Quandary

I fail to understand the logic behind the decision to release Irish Blood, English Heart as a single outside the UK and Ireland.

Re: How so???????

This guy thinks"most of the listeners" in buffalo dont give a shit about morrissey. What i find funny is...its the same shit music that these stations play, week after week, day after day etc.

The fans of that show(or KROQ for that matter) should be ashamed of themselves for the utter garbage thats on the radio now...the lables want to know why so many people download their music????? How about because most of the shit on radio today sucks more cock then jasmin st claire???? how about the lables(and even some of these smarmy radio PD's) take their f***in heads out of their ass and play shit for ALL audiences????? When you play a certain type of music, dont you alienate your listeners to a certain extent????

Ok,so it "didnt work" there as he claims, but maybe if 1 person liked the record enough in those 2 spins, they might go out to buy it?????

And my last point; Im quite sure morrissey DOES give a shit about his fans. Im not going to lie or bullshit anyone, you're f***in right I download music...the only person/band i refuse to DL are: morrissey and the smiths. I will gladly(no matter how bad he,that station,or anyone else thinks this disc will "suck") go out and buy this disc.

Gender owes no one anything.

Re: the guy at the radio station was right about 1 thing though...

Mr. Improper is stupid.

Re: How so???????

Well, I said that in regards to the guy's claim that they were doing 'a bit', in which they cited both primary conceptions concerning the single.
As well as the fact that he actually gave the single a shot.
We can't deny there is a lot of negativity among listeners to Morrissey's music. As I've said I think IBEH was a bad choice as a single for the US and anywhere other than the UK and Ireland.

Of course I agree with you that radio and TV stations should challenge their listeners and viewers, rather than play what they think the public wants.
I think they forgot what this business was all about once, or at least in the alt. music department.
Alternative music after all becomes the mainstream in cycles.

I also agree that he got a little too personal and mean at the end there, throwing around a lot of misconceptions and making assumptions.

Nice call. I liked your take........Im glad you agree with me.

Perhaps, but I wonder if there's an outside chance that the PIMP got a little personal in his original e-mail?

Re: How so???????

Well, you got the basics right, of course we all know you didn't actually listen to the broadcast, so it was all a big misunderstanding I think.

Obviously, I haven't read your e-mail, he might have had reasons to be mean spirited.

Re: How so???????

if you check further down........exactly what i wrote on this board is whati sent tyo that guy...Gender nectar posts it...see for yourself.

Yes, I just commented on that, but that doesn't mean a respectable DJ shouldn't rise above that. I mean fans are always passionate, but it's unprofessional for a DJ to forward such a response, I believe.

Good job Improper!

When I tuned into the radio, I had just left the gym -- got into my car and all I heard was BOTH OF THEM trashing Morrissey left and right. I think it's rude that they're given an artist's single to promote and they won't even give it a chance because it's not Nickleback! Yes -- that's the crap that they play on the radio station. Don't let him fool you.
I would never apologize for slagging that guy because I did nothing wrong. HE'S the one that should be apologizing. If they know that they'll never play Morrissey on their radio station -- then why bother at all. Oh -- for a supposedly funny "bit". Oh please. I bet if you started bad mouthing their precious Metallica you'd sure here a mouthfull.
I think they should have either played the song and not bother commenting on it or just don't play it at all. Simple as that.
Morrissey is far to good to be played on that station anyway so I'd rather they scratched it all together.
Argh. My blood pressure is rising! lol
Anyway -- kudos Improper!

which radio station was this?

i am unfortunate enough to reside here..haven't caught which station you are referring to...i don't even listen to radio around here as it all pretty much is not worht listening to. i would think perhaps 103.3 the edge would be the only non-college station who would bring up morrissey..was it 103.3? i have recently befriended one of the dj's there and hope to possibly do a classic alternative/brit pop specialty show myself sometime in the future. anyway, just curious.

i may be jaded, but my entire attitude as been "why bother with people who shouldn't really be bothered with...."

Yep! That's the one. 103.3 The Edge.
I haven't heard it on 102.1 yet. (Toronto station) I know they'll be civilized and encouraging about the single.
P.S I'm so sorry you live in Buffalo.
Actually -- it's not as bad as I've always thought, but mind you, I've only been to the airport. (twice)

LOLOL! I love how much you got under his skin! Way to go, Pimp!

Yeah, DJs these days are nothing but trained monkeys. Seems like he's rather defensive about his entire pathetic Disc Monkey existance.

"The Edge" LOL. Doesn't every city have a pathetic station billing themselves as "The Edge"? LOLOL Pathetic, cookie-cutter stations.

I have no idea if Morrissey's single has played on any of the commercial music stations in my city. Haven't listened to them in years.
