1. Am I right that there's a football-player called Roy Keen which this wordgame is based on?

2. Being german I have difficulties to translate the line 'when usually it's nothing surely you're happy it should be this way' so it makes any sense?? Can anyone help? I would really be glad. Thanks!!

Roy Keane is a footballer who plays for Manchester United.
I don't understand the song lyric myself, perhaps it's meant to be misunderstood.

The line you ask about isn't from "Roy's Keen", it's from "Unhappy Birthday". Did you accidentally type the wrong lyric? I do that sometimes myself. If that is the line you're asking about, it's saying some would have him believe that to love and lose is better than having nothing at all.

Hi Sam,

no, this was two different questions. Thanks for your answer anyway!

I always felt there was something seedy about that tune, but I lacked the Anglophilia to figure it out. I ask again, just what is it that is "right under our nose" but we cant see it?

My cousin Jera looks like Roy Keane in the right light.

Re: Right under your nose

I always thought the line about
"even when its right under your nose and you just can't see it, can you?"
was about the homosexual attraction to another man who isn't picking up on it. I dunno--maybe its just me.

Re: Right under your nose

when Moz played in Solna, Sweden on the 3rd of december -97 he signalled to me that he wanted me to throw my Manchester United scarf to him and so i did. He wanted it as soon as they began playing "roy's keen" and when he sang "it's here right under your nose...." he held the scarf at one end so it was hanging down under his nose.

Re: Right under your nose

okay, sometimes a bucket can be a scarf...
