'Smiths'. It's an adjective there. You could argue for 'Smiths'' though in other contexts: "The Queen is Dead is the best of The Smiths' records". 'Smith's' is always incorrect.

Try replacing Smiths with another, singular band name in your sentence and you'll see it easier. You wouldn't say "I put on a Franz Ferdinand's record", would you?
