Default Pix and "Accidental" Video Clip from Alain Whyte gig @ L.A. Knitting Factory 3.16.04

    Party People,

Well it was a great set played by Alain Whyte - including several Smiths' songs- and
after the show backstage he told me that the NME actually misquoted him back in the day
when it wrote that Alain said "I wasn't a big fan of the Smiths". What he
ACTUALLY said was that he was a HUGE fan - and was blown away by "William It Was
Really Nothing" on Top of the Pops and loved the Smiths- but wasn't a massive enough
fan that had every single B-Side and everything else. So they left all that out
and only kept the negative part.

Here are the pix I took:

My camera was 2 hours old - I just bought it tonight- so when I was backstage getting a
picture with Alain I accidentaly had the "video" selected so here is the
"accidental video" of us smiling waiting for the camera flash that never came:

Alain is saying "Better hide the cig!" I am on the left, Alain middle (obviously), and "Sweet and
Tender Hooligan" Jose Maldonado is on the right.

    Cheers!

Default Alain White / Knitting Factory

I thought the show was OK.

It was cool to hear That Joke Isnt any Anymore.

I think Alain's singing voice, though I wouldnt consider it Lovely, was very reminiscent of Ian McCulluch from Echo and The Bunnymen - Most of the original songs had the structure of the songs on Candleland. I found myself wishing Ian was really there becasue I think his voice would really change the songs and make them a bit more passionate. But whatever. -Alain's voice is no match for his excellent guitar capabilities. I loved the music, but I think the voice needed a bit more strength. And Bass.

He did do one song, I forget what it was called but its the one he said there was an MP3 floating around of it. - It was really good, it was like the third song (A little help on the title?). - That one was my favorite.
