Thank you!

Birmingham, as it is only about 80 miles to Manchester and it's a BEAUTIFUL city...
London and Glasgow are a bit too far from Manchester

...or Leeds/Bradford Airport, which is between 40 and 50 miles from Manchester.
Sk.
Yes, Birmingham is beautiful. Fly here!!
Or... East Midlands airport. Yay for the East and West Midlands!

To answer your question.. Liverpool John Lennon airport is only 30 miles away. Watch out for getting your car nicked though as you're unloading your luggage!!

Only 30 miles from Liverpool?
Here is my deal: Amsterdam - Manchester with BA: 127 euros. Amsterdam - Liverpool -easyjet 87 euros . I guess its BA then.
> London and Glasgow are a bit too far from Manchester
yeah, I wil check a decent map the next time. Glasgow, I mean really....

That should be Nottingham East Midlands Airport
It might be in Leicestershire and closer to Derby, but what the smeg we will have it anyway hahaha.

Liverpool airport is only about 33 miles from Manchester. Manc Airport is about 7-8 miles south of the city. So, you take your choice as it's probably pretty close. Btter sandwiches on BA. Getting transport to/from Liverpool to manc may cost you a bit as well.. ponder these things but enjoy yourself, that's the key to all the best advice.

I don't want to sound like a geography teacher here but as Liverpool and Manchester are in the same County then I would say Liverpool is nearer than Birmingham for example.
By all means fly to Bormingham but be warned. It's full of yam yams.

I'd imagine Sheffield is just as close to Manchester as Liverpool is, so Sheffield airport is worth considering as well. Do they have an airport in Leeds ?
Anyway what do I care, I have a fear of flying.
Just think the plane could fall out of the sky at any moment
Yes but, no offence to Liverpool and Sheffield, but Birmingham has many flights to and from the States. OK, so Liverpool may have too, but Johnny, you're wrong, they are in completely different counties (Lancashire & Merseyside). Geographically, the county of Cheshire even seperates them, FFS!
Ask Ruffian about Yam Yams. After his experience in Stourbridge last Friday, he knows the difference between us Brummies and those webbers.

Thought you were flying in from the States, sorry.

What's a Yam Yam? What's A Webber?
Sk.

Yam Yams are the black country lot, eg Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Bromwich. That much I do know as one of my Uncles works down there.
> What's a Yam Yam?
Indeed Radar is right. Anyone from the Black Country is referred to a Yam Yam because they have their own language. For example, a well-spoken person such as myself would say
"You're looking forward to the Morrissey gig, aren't you"
Whereas a Yam Yam would say
"Yam lookin forward to the Morrissey gig, ay ya"
> What's A Webber?
Someone who's family tree is like a pencil. Inbred. (Webbed toes, you see)

A Webber, eh? Must use that as an "I know what it means, you dont, so I can use it with impunity" insult.
Cheers,

I hope that was a joke. Liverpool is a fantastic city, far more interesting than the grim shithole with cafe-bar pretentions that is Manchester. Its got a lower rate of car crime too!
Liverpool is much closer than Birmingham but it's a shit hole
