    Default Mancunian help wanted!

My girlfriend and I are gonna do our very best to get tickets for the may 22nd gig. Neither of us has been to Manchester before and we'd very much appreciate some guidance.
When we book our hotel what parts of town are central and has good communications?
    What parts should one avoid?

    All other tips appreciated.
    Cheers!

You should head for Benchill in south manchester suburb of Wythenshawe. Go into the Greenwood Tree pub and announce, in a loud voice, that you are a big fan of the Lord Morrissey and would like to hire one of the locals to show you around the city.

Places to go in Manchester; Wythenshawe, Moss Side, Cheetham Hill, Rusholme, Levenshulme, Hulme, Partington.
Places to avoid; Didsbury, Heald Green, Timperley, Altrincham, Wilmslow, Bowden (especially Bowden Road - full of riff raff).

Good luck, have a great time....... 'ave it!

I recommend you buy 'Morrissey's Manchester'.
not only a guide to the Moz places, but also a guide to the city itself too.
    A bargain at £5.99
    You can buy from Amazon

Thanks for your helpful and informative suggestion Phill P

Martin, as I put on a previous thread, this is a good site for hotels:

    http://www.hotelsofmanchester.com/location.htm

here's a map showing the proximity:

    http://www.hotelsofmanchester.com/map.htm

That's all you need really. Stick to central Manc as shown in this map and you'll be fine. If you want to do the whole SLC thing, then buy Phill's book - it's very useful.

    Cheers,

    GDx
