Why did Moz use a not very well known cover star for Southpaw? Why wasn't he on the cover?

How famous was Boxer, Kenny Lane?

Would he have been recognized by the British Public?

What was/is Morrissey's interest in Boxing?

Was this a throw back to The Smiths' cover art?

Has Moz answered this question?

What are your theories on the Southpaw Grammar sleeve?

Moz used an obscure cover star because he knew he was making an obscure record!!

These people call themselves real die hard fans and they cannot answer your question. I wish I could, but I am just passing through. I am one of those more casual Moz fans. Believe it or not, we do exist!

The title Southpaw Grammar is, as Morrissey says, referring to "the school of hard knocks" (southpaw being boxing slang for a left-hander). Note also that "left-handed" can also mean "homosexual".

Southpaw Grammar is Morrissey's story of working class England. It's where he came from, and he obviously felt some need to sing about it.
