Default What the hell are you babbling about?

His influences were Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Joe Satriani, and Steve Fuckin' Vai.

Marr was heavily influenced by James Honeyman-Scott of The Pretenders. Marr used Honeyman-Scott's playing style on lots of his early music. "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" would be a prime example of the technique.

Just because I know something you don't know. Does this seem childish? I hope so.

I knew his real influences, I just didn't feel it necessary to provide the real answer in fear of sounding like a nerd.

I think that the magic in Marr is that he created a unique musical template.. he is a god, there is no other like his Smiths sound!! For influences.. maybe jingle jangle 'Byrds'.. but even then he's hard to pidgeon hole.. which is a massive compliment to his ability.

he used to hang out with Billy Duffy (CUlt) didn't he when they were younger, and they both went off in massive musical tangents to each other

Enjoy Marr for what he is.. a genius from 1982-87

Billy Duffy was/is a great guitarist but he was wasted in The Cult. One of the first singles I ever bought was 'She Sells Sanctuary', but even as a young 11/12 year old I had to give out a big fat yawn when they went all out American generic rock.

You're right.. still, another great 'Cult' moment was 'Fire Woman'.. any songs with copious amounts of "Lord have mercy" works for me!
