Where to start? There are so many. Here is a list that I can come up with in 1 minute...

    - Cinema Paradiso (Italy)
    - The Shower (Japan)
    - Y tu mama tambien (Mexico)
    - ANY Pedro Almodovar movie (Spain)
    - Amores Perros (Mexico)
    - Like Water for Chocolate (Mexico)
    - Central Station
    - Nico
    - There are too many to list.

    JC,

Good choice with Amores Perros, but I still think you're a knob slobbin' uncle tom.

Default My choice is Mouchette (Robert Bresson)

One of the most overwhelming human experiences you will find on film. Nothing pretentious or wallowing in self pity, just the facts as they are in this story of a young girl used and abused by everyone and trapped in between an alcoholic father and a terminally ill mother.
