It's not that his sex life is public property, but his celebrity status does leave him vulnerable to mass curiosity. Even if he wasn't Morrissey (formerly of the Smiths), and you sort of knew him from around the neighborhood, I'm sure some of you would still wonder about him. It's not like I'm snapping pictures with a telephoto lens. I don't consider talking about him an intrusion anyway.
The reason you think "people" wonder about Morrissey's private life more than Madonna's, is because: First, you probably know more Morrissey/Smiths fans who couldn't be bothered with wondering about Madonna. Second, do we really have to wonder about what happens in Madonna's bedroom? Haven't we seen it? It's probably less lascivious than the pictures we've seen.
The fact of the matter is, he is a very intriguing persona. I'm not so sure his celibacy proclamations even have much to do with it. For as many years as he's been in the limelight, we've never once seen him with a girl or boyfriend. It's... strange; which interests me immediately. I'm very curious. I'm very nosey. Whatever you want to call me, I'm sure it's fair. I still want to know.
