One of the best Kings Of Leon tracks is on there.. Those swamp donkey's rock!

Also, I found myself surprised at some of the other songs I'd not normally enjoy.. so maybe there's something on there for evryone.. I like the Mars Volta track.. (after it settles down a bit from the intro!) and the Darkness is essential listening.. check out Muse, Nick Cave and Janes addcition on it as well..

I saw Jane's Addiction on Jools Holland at the weeknd Ruff and thought they were abysmal. They've sold out The Academy in Glasgow tonight.

Do you know what the Nick Cave track is ?

Have you noticed I am tactfully declining to comment on The Darkness

I'll tell you a song I love at the minute Ruff..The new John Cale single. I know,I know but it really is VERY good.

My old rocker mates (see ongoing dialogue with punky McCann) say JA are brilliant.. i don't see it at all.. but the track on the Q disk is listenable.. and heard an acoustic version of a song called 'because..' or something and that was OK.. but wouldn't buy anything by 'em.

    > Do you know what the Nick Cave track is ?

    'Babe I'm On fire'..

    > Have you noticed I am tactfully declining to comment on The Darkness

'Get Your hands Off My woman..' is superb.. the best studio track you'll never hear on the radio.. just buy the Q, play it very loud and forget pretension.. they're just in it for the laughs.. I guarantee you can't resist if you see them live. I thought I would... and succumbed!

"Babe I'm On Fire" is from the latest Cave album "Nocturama". I assume it's an edit version as the album version is about 9 minutes long.

They released an edited version as a single.

The John Cale song is really contemporary sounding. One of those songs you gear yourself up to hate and then suddenly find you love It didn't really remind me of any Velvet Underground stuff. It's on the listening posts at Virgin if you get the chance.I think it's called "Things".

I think Jane's Addiction did 3 tracks on Jools Holland and they started off bad and faded away That's just my opinion of course.

Tell you a cracking tune I played today Ruff. "Monday" by The Jam. Brilliant tune. Reminded me of being in love with the wonderful Gillian Simpson when I was at school.

She dumped me for a guy with one eye ! Honestly !

Dumped you coz he had a bigger 'Japs Eye' more like!

I remember using the words to 'Nights is White Satin' as a poem wrote to Julie Smith who I had a massive crush on.. she died in a motorbike accident about 2 years after we left school.

Ruffian! Why didn't you tell everyone that there is also a divine poster of the sexy Adam Ant (before he became a little 'misunderstood')
I flipped open the NME and his dandy highwayman stance to made my day.

BTW, since when has the NME been a glossy mag? If I want glossy mags, I'd buy 'Woman's Realm' or some such other publication. Are there no A3 paper music mags now? I liked the print coming off onto my hands. But that could be because I like getting my fingers dirty...

Ouch. That's a bad one Ruff.

No seriously this guy had one eye. Well he had a glass eye and a real eye. It was the result of an accident with an air rifle.

I had the pleasure of giving her a knockback in a club a few years later.

A sad case of cutting my nose off to spite my face because I really wanted to

So much for Morrissey fans boycotting the NME.

You know I was joking Johnny boy.. any sntence I can get Jap and eye into is just too tempting!e

No, I admire you for that.. women generally boss the roost when it comes to selectively dumping and moving on or rejecting good blokes (like you are I'd guess)! I've definitely hardened up to not being so forlorn.. and lovelost over the ladies!

That reminds me of one of my very first lyrical attempts. 'The boy stood on the lawn, looking forlorn..' I could've been a southern Morrissey with that quality material you know !

haha.. watch it Bluey, you'll annoy Tommy with these glam rock pretentions.. would you have liked the dandy Highwaymen to have put a stance over you I'm wondering? before he went a little 'radio rental' that is..

Ah Ruff your a poet and you didn't know it !

I only found out about 2 years ago what "Jap's eye" was and even more recently that "twat" actually meant something

I was also unaware that"slapper" was not a term of endearment until I called a colleague by that name and she didn't talk to me for about two years

I blame it all on going to an all boys school. Talk about arrested development
