Everytime everyone gets together someone ALWAYS brings my Peter frampton story up and after two years the story is now greatly exagerated. Thanksgiving it will probably be up to he had me arrested and I spent 2 days in jail.
I want youuuuuuu to show me the way.
IF you don't mind me asking Is Manchester permanent?

In High School we had to make a product, package it, and advertise it and our group made perfume and we called it Kashmir.
What type of music does your band play?

LOL, Which one, talking about the good old days or the part about "Sheena is a punk rocker"?

I've been there as well!! It's a scarey place to be when you're 15.. (sounds like a lyric)

I can hear you hitting the high notes!! Even if that voice box does make it sound like it's Stephen Hawking on backing vocals!

Till the end of December I am an honourary Manunianc, even bought a uniform yesterday, the 'Parka'!! In 2004, then I will assess the future.. the landscape of my life will change again.. Perhaps I should emigrate to NY and plough my furrow!!

We are like an indiepunk band.. all covers.. for example, we bash out the Ramones (Blitzkrieg Bop), the Jesus & Mary Chain (head on), Buzzcocks, supergrass, Roxy, Strokes, Only Ones etc .. even the counting Crows 'Mr Jones' when we feel like it! next year we'll do it live.. it's difficult at the moment with my geographical relocation (we tend to rehearse at Elephant&Castle or Waterloo)to get to play.. so it's never ending rehearsals.. and until the other guitarist sorts out the demo's properly.. oh it's a great hobby. wish I could sing properly though, and remember lyrics.. I was a champion for us to do 'Bigmouth Strikes again'.. but 'the boys won't listen'

Both.
Where you from, what do you do? etc

Parka's? Yikes! I won't be visiting Manchester anytime soon.

I'm from New Jersey and I am a professional student(going for my Masters).

Parka's are a Mancunian institution.. very stylish. very common. Dispel thinking of some Eskimo sitting outside his igloo or something from your mind!

What you studying? aspirations?

American Dreams.. July before last, I attempted and succeeded in a (morrissey) Solo tour of the Eastern coast of the US.. from NY to Niagara to Chicago down to Tennessese, Nashville, across to Richmond then washington Baltimore and ended up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey (do you know it).. Before having a game of soft ball (the homouary Englishman) in central Park and then some 12 hours later, sitting at home again.. it was like a dream!

I might do another in January/February.. Sandiego to Seattle. Or further maybe South, explore the Virginias and Carolina's properly. As you can see, I am a complete Americanophile.. Love the wide open spaces.. a soft top cadillac tour from east top west would be great too..

It all depends of course on circumstances.

My God, The Only Ones as well. Shame you weren't into them when they were together, you old phoney.
Too busy indulging in home counties headbanging, I suppose.
If it's any consolation, you were in the majority at the time. Nobody wanted to know. The world wouldn't listen. Until later.
Aye....hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Keep it up, Ruff. This kinda stuff makes my day.

See ye later.

Heh heh!! I had a young scholar sit on the bus in front of me this afternoon. He was dithering about a bit which was fine by me as I had a prime view of the strapling, as it were. It was like two satsumas in a hankie

The old man sat next to me had a bit of a perve too.

Political Science. I don't want to say what I want to do with it because I don't want you to laugh at me.

I'm dying to know how did you end up in Glen Ridge. I grew up about 20 miles north of there in Ridgewood. Some football players from Glen Ridge got in a lot of trouble there.

Me too, I just love just driving. We just got back from Florida and put so many miles on the rental car. The Carolina's are really nice. The mountains in West Virginia are beautiful but the people's living conditions were horrible.

Your replies make my day Pat.. dangle you a punk carrot and then listen out for the loudest 'CRUNCH' ever! We really must get together and rap about the old days.. when you were swathed in safety pins and I was in leather n denim..

We do a good version of 'Another girl Another Planet' complete with the note perfect guitar intro.. Another favourite of mine in a similar vein was a bit of an anthem for me at school 'Do Anything You wanna do' by The Hot Rods.. of course. That still gets me going.

But was I listening? Yeah, I think I was, even if a little young and waiting for the retro call-up! I remember being in a tiny minority supporting my mate Paul 'Porky' Baldwin at school when he was beaten up by the right wing school bully for wearing a Poppy with 'NO MORE HEROES' inked on it.. I thought Porky was quite cool..

But then, in the early 80's.. I can't believe we spurned a Jam gig in the early in favour of going to see permy topped rocker Sammy Hagar.. now that's a crime I can never be forgiven or get parole for! Even if I owned the Scream and secretly played it at home by that time...

Errmm yes.. unfortunately, maybe you do have the correct image of the Manc picture after all! Bit more stylish than the Mod paraks though.. the materials improved! Still no Gingham though!

My dear, Have I ever laughed at anyone here? well.. maybe, but not openly.. Are you going to run for Governor of New Jersey or something? talking of which there's an amusing advert on the radio here at the moment where the US of the future is to take on the drug barons of central America.. apparrently, President Schwarzeneger is to take a key role, be in the first airlift, and k1ck some ass personally. An amusing image methinks.

Yeah I knew the football rape story. My mate Kyle is an Englishman married to an American.. now lives in Glen Ridge. He was actually in 83rd st of Manhatten as a single man and earnin enough to support that address as a contractor.. I visted him there too a few years previous. Anyway, very nice suburb Glen Ridge is I must say. Tree lined avenues, big house.. clapperboard windows.. I'd aspire to that in New England somewhere one day.. If ever I was a millionaire I'd buy one tomorrow as a retreat. Wasn't Tom Crusie from Glen Ridge?

the wide open roads of America is one of your best assets.. And depsite some of the comments here, I love the peoplr too.. never had a bad moment socially. Even when I played Britney Spears 'Hit me Baby' on stage in Nashville.. Oh, yeah, that was fuunny.. so drunk in this Irish pub.. Remember hearing Dirty Old Twon being played by the house band and just thinking.. this is living..

Guilty as charged. The very thought of '76 onwards does something funny to my stomach.
So it's all carrot-dangling??
Mentioning The Ruts soon after I've mentioned them??
Mentioning The Saints soon after I've mentioned them??

And The Only Ones?? And student-bashing?? And early Roxy??

Bastard!! And here I was thinking you looked upon me as the big punk brother you wished you'd had.

We really must get together and rap

Aye, sure. Definitely. Well, you've had plenty of time to read up on it and discover in retrospect what it was all about.

Tiny minorities, Ruff?

I was one of less than a hundred who saw The Rezillos in 1976.

One of a similar number who turned up to see the Gang of Four in 1978.(The gig was delayed by a couple of hours and I couldn't stay. But I was still there.)
One of 300 who saw Joy Division in 1979.
Even in 1980/81 I was one of a few who saw the likes of Echo&The Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, and Orange Juice in a Paisley boozer!! Maximum crowd? About a hundred each time.

Notice anything here? That's right, this went on for five or six years. Even at the end (the END!!) of all that, when I was eyeing Spanish shores and breaking up the old punk gang - you were going to see Sammy Hagar!!!

Good of you to admit it, though.
Makes a change from your usual habit of trying to re-write your musical preference from the mid 70's to well into the 80's. Which, of course, was heavy metal.

I threw myself into punk and stayed there, soaking it all up.

McCann, The Punk Sponge.

ps. porky baldwin was a twat.

Gingham? OOOHHH SHUTTER. Now you are probably going to really laugh at me now but what do Mod parkas look like?
> My dear, Have I ever laughed at anyone here? well.. maybe, but not

LOL, No, I'm not that ambitious. I just got married and I would like to start having children within a year or two, so if I took that route I would have to start with something more local, like the school board. A couple people said I should be a lobbyist because I get really passionate about things and you get to travel, which I love to do.

Yes he was, but under a different name.Someone else famous went there too but now I can't think who it is.
You don't have to be a millionaire. People are buying in the Berkshires on the New York side for very little money right now and New Hampshire is really inexpensive(and no sales tax)

Pat.. I was there early on the Ruts and the Saints.. when you were off fighting the spanish revolution.. working for the yankee dollar no doubt!

First album I ever bought U know.. Roxy's greatest hits.. probably 1979!! Mother of pearl, song for europe still move me. Freey was one of the, if not THE, coolest man in the 70's..

The Only Ones only had one hit though didn't they?

haha, yeah.. in my history books, seems like you people at the Sex Boutique really knew how to have a good time! Patrick, can you post a picture of yourself from 1976.. I'd love to see it.. I'll dig one out of me in my biker leather & Cut downs with Motorhead etched on the back! which superceded (and with much shame than seeing Hagar) 'Rush' being sown on by hand.. coz my mum wanted to sow something!

Well, as I'm 'fessing up to all sorts of stuff.. I saw Iron Maiden at the old Marquee... before they were big!

Your punk gang.. those veterans.. where are they now.. A lot of my lot, for their musical sins, are still doing it!

The Erith Heavy Metal Club had great names as well.. here's the roll call of that era.. Gravedigger Harris, Mad Martin, Killer Clive, Philthy Animal, Rabid Rick Robbo, evil Ekins, Ten Ton Tony, Ace(man) (that's errmm me), Luke Pick axe handle, Oddbod, Markus Overtone, Flame-on Allen.. we even formed a football team in 1980 before internal infighting and general disgruntlement meant the corner flags were eventually broken and the match balls stolen. I saw the light shortly afterwards..

Can I also say, when you took to doing a tax dodge and emigrated to the iberian peninsula, I was here turning to the alternative arts.. Listening to JAMC 'Somecandytalking' (for example) when it came out! which was the new punk in many ways!

Ruffian ( a punk at heart)

Haha.. he used to nick sub standard porn from the corner shop as well.. he was a big lump, but crap at rugby.. we used to joke about putting him on castors to improve his mobility round the pitch!

Your sobbing even after the BIG win yesterday. Now I'm sad. Sounds like someone needs a hug!
I couldn't find a hug smilie so I hope this is OK.
