Songs You Love By Bands You Loathe

Yes, I'm a bit bored today... anyway, although I generally have no time for Radiohead I really like "No Surprises" -- it seems like a work of near genius to me. Likewise, I really love "Wild Horses" by the Stones, who are a band I otherwise loathe. So what songs do you really rate by bands you otherwise hate?

I can think of two off hand, but to me they're more in the category "should've been one hit wonders and then disappeared". First is "Not if you were the last junkie on earth" by the Dandy Warhols. Second is "Nancy Boy" by Placebo. There are probably lots more but I'm too ashamed to admit to them.

I must say though- it amazes me that one trick pony that is Placebo have managed to keep going so long. I mean WHO buys Placebo albums? I bought their first one on the strength of Nancy Boy and took it back the next day and swapped it with "Odelay". Best music decision I ever made I think. Well, apart from deciding to investigate The Smiths obviously.

No. I only like it because I like it. No interest whatsoever in The Byrds.

But as it is just a reworking of "Turn Turn Turn" by logical extension you must also have an interest in the sound of The Byrds but you just don't know it.

I can't say I loathe U2 but do not particularly care for them. 'All I want' is an excellent choice as would 'One', 'The Unforgettable Fire' and 'Bad' be. All the rest is crap with a capital c.

I also hate Madonna (okay, I go back and forth on her, but right now, I'm in a hate phase), but I like quite a few of her songs.

She knows it too. Why else would she go around making out with Britney Spears? I mean, she did that whole girl on girl thing to death a decade ago. It's not like she's breaking new ground. Too bad she looks like shit now too. I can't imagine any guys really getting off on the idea of her 40 year old ass making out with Britney.
