No, I'm not one of those groupies but 'Dear Catastrophe Waitress' is blowing me to the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Morrissey opens for them next year

Belle & Sebastian are very good.

Dear Ken/Puta:

I want you to know that I am experiencing the very same emotions regarding D.C. Waitress by Belle & Sebastian.

Are you seeing them in concert?

I have terrific news! The show near where I live was sold out, but they just added a second show!! I was making plans to travel several hundred miles to see them. Looks like now I won't have to.

Thanks.

it's having that effect on me...slowly and gradually, but i really really like the last track "stay loose" at this moment. its like a Joy Division song that you can enjoy listening to. it slides into a simon and garfunkel thing right in the middle...and it sounds like it belongs!

i'm glad for this album. the last few releases they had were just kinda odd. storytelling had a few bright moments on it, but whatever substances they are using now are working for them.

What are you on about!! You should be on the b&S site. Sorry, but I've stated my position here before.. Lovely songs on album from B&S, won't knock them for that (Arab Strap' is a classic), very listenable, but Live??? They were as dull as the thrills and Starsailor.

And on behalf of Moz solo, I'd like to suggest that it's vaguelly insulting to demean Morrissey to let him OPEN for them !! F*cking hell, that would be brilliant, coz it would be a case of the support blowing the headline act off the stage and into the next universe.. Like Van Halen did to Black Sabbath, supporting them in 1980!!

And God know what those sterile B&S fans would make of songs like, for example, NF Disco, or Speedway.. coupled with a genuine exhuberant and boisterous Moz Mosh crowd.. They'd be cowering at the bar with their alcopops. You've got me going now, being a live veetran of a 1000 gigs and knowing what pushes the 'right buttons'!

What is this insistence of putting Moz and B&S in the same bracket? Lyrically, maybe some synergy, musically, poles apart, the smiths even further.. Stop trying to marry them off as a live dream ticket..

Now, I'm off to see Half Man Half Biscuit tonight.. that's where real mena and girls will be later.. ! Falling down time, 22:30.. or maybe earlier.. it's british thing!

I'm in a very good mood today as well, yet still you got me on a rare rant! keep it up. I enjoy passion.

Heh heh ! Cool yer Jets Ruff. At your age you need to be careful

Good points though. Love B & S and the new album is brilliant.

Saw them in London a few years ago and watching someone tune their guitar for 10 minutes between songs was not exactly one of my gig highlights over the years.

Even Morrissey on a bad day would blow them to smithereens in the live arena.

Perhaps that side of things has improved and I hope so as I was sorely tempted to mount(oh err) the stage and tune the guitars myself

Enjoy tonights gig. I am off to see Mogwai on Sunday and I have also got tickets to see John Cale in December.

Have a good one and I know it goes without saying but... misbehave yourself.

It's just a live band has to show life you know.. more than the music.. another dull band live, in my opinion.. is.. dare I say. Teenage Fanclub! Great songs.. but I like people to be involved.. Now, the Drakness, or the Datsuns.. phew... they're scorching live bands..

Enjoy Mogwai.. I had a mix of them covering some Sabbath songs (oddly coincidental)

Harmonic Generator..

Can't say a word against The Fannies,Ruff as they are Bellshill boys like myself. When you come from a place whose population consists of two mines(now closed),3 nuns( 1 retired)a sheep called Elsie(who is my new girlfriend) you have to stick up for each other

Still, you have to call it like you see it.

I've seen them a few times and they were brilliant. I think Scottish bands pull out all the stops on hone soil as the audiences can be ...well... demanding

Norman Blake does quite a bit of deejaying in Glasgow and there are always various appearances from the Glasgow indie set. B&S,Pastels,Delgadoes etc. He's a really nice bloke.

I agree about the fannies.. sublime on record.. Their greatest hits (although you'd argue all the albums) is essetial fro eny newcomers to their work.

I've seen them twice.. once in Chicago (a moment or co-incidence and great cred) where they were underwhelmed by a sedate American audience.. that was a good expereinec.. and then again at the Astoria last year.. very ponderous.

But fair play.. great band.

You're such a Globetrotter Ruff . I prefer the Bellshill Miners Club. It's my spiritual home and full of the most fascinating creatures

Re: Stay Loose

Downloaded the song.

Stranglers start, Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes' bassline ...

can't quite put my finger on it, but it reminds me of some band, especially the chorus and it's not Joy Division, anyone? Squeeze? Kinks? Dexy's?
who does the singer sounds like?

I agree with most of that. B&S have some decent tunes, they're not a bad band at all. But there's little special about them.

Yes!!! I'm seeing them in Philadelphia on Nov 14th! God, I hope I don't get hit by a bus before then.

I got to see them in Detroit on their last tour. They are captivating live.

Unless miracles happen in the studio, and Morrissey changes the setlist (how many times have we all heard the same Moz songs live now?!?!) then I don't think that would happen. B&S are fresh and (relatively) new and change the setlists for each show.

Don't get me wrong, I love Morrissey and will continue to see him if/when he tours again. Unless there are dramatic changes made on the next tour, then I hate to say it but the show will be predictably boring.

I'm 32 years old, have been coming here for over 3 years, and you can kiss my hairy ass! Oh yeah, that's not the correct website for B&S, they have a new site, jackass.

http://www.banchory.net/belleandsebastian

Re: SHUT THE f*** UP YOU NEWBIE TWAT!!

JACKASS:

I gave you their website listed on the last inner page of the notes for the new LP "Dear Catastrophe Waitress."

The one you gave me was the old one.

I've already checked it out on my own before, and the new site is much much much nicer.

Please check yourself.

Also, why did you change your name, as you claim that you have been coming here for 3 years?

What was your old user name?

The one you supplied is indeed found in the liner notes, but it directs you to banchory.net. So it looks like we're both right, either address leads to the same place.

I felt like it. No other explanation is needed.

> What was your old user name?

View user profiles...you're so smart see if you can figure it out for yourself. My user profile is one of the 1st posted and also the name I went by up until a few months ago. It's also the name I use on the main board.

Not a patch on the Digbeth Balti and Shamrock, though Johnny.

I'll have to take your word for it Bluenose.

It's always been a dream of mine to visit Birmingham.

Somehow though I have just been lucky.ahem, I mean unlucky and have never quite managed it.

Does it still look like Romania circa 1975 ?
