They were so great I cant even put it into words.
    some other thoughts....
Bow Wow Wow- fookin great too. That Annabella. She gets me hot and she can sing her arse off!
Echo - great but too much like a cover band playing Echo tunes these days.
Psy. Furs - not great less said the better
Duran Duran- Fun but Simon can't sing for Shite! (never could though...)
and Mr. Proper was nowhere to be found....

i was sad when the tickets sold out so soon... but then i realized i wasnt missing much anyway except for a fat aging robert smith singing songs weve all heard a million times and trying to plug his new shitty ones along with that.. perhaps seeing simon do his sexy bass strut is a reason.... interpol, i would definatly go for them.. and echo

That's what Bob said last nite, but not with Moz obviously. One more album & one more tour for Bob? Where have I heard that before. I don't care, I still will go! I saw ALOT of Moz fans there last nite & even some VERY familiar fans who go to alot of Moz shows. The only bands that were worth the 50 bucks was Interpol, Echo & The Cure. I can't wait till next year. Diedre, before you start calling others "fat aging", post your pix & let's see how you're aging.

You are on a Morrissey message board defending The Cure, oh the irony.

Some people, like Moz, have earned the right to do and act as they please. In order for Robert Smith to gain Moz status he will have to give blood and donate a kidney, because he sure won't achieve it musically.

So if bob smith gives blood tomorrow and makes a date to donate one of his kidneys, he'll achieve Moz status?? I don't think so,AK. I could do that.

Yeah but you would never wear spandex biker shorts stuffed with a sock like Bob Smith so I think all you would have to do is donate blood to achieve Moz status.

    Default It was AWESOME!!

    BUD LIGHT SIDE STAGE
    1:00- Jet - missed them

1:50- Dramarama- missed them- but saw them a few weeks ago and they ROCKED!

2:40- Kings Of Leon- missed them

3:30- Berlin- saw a few songs- I have seen them a few times before- good stuff

    MAIN STAGE
2:15- General Public - EXCELLENT! We went all the way to the front row for this as people were slowly arriving. Dave Wakeling was in SUPERB form and played all his English Beat hits as well!

2:45- Dashboard Confessional- my dateliked them a lot more than I did.... he is compared to Morrissey in his lyrics but the band d=sound snothing like the Smiths/Moz ... but they have a good sound

3:15- Bow Wow Wow - the lead singer looks PHENOMENAL 20 years later.. but then again- she was only 15 when they started in the eraly 80's... they were GREAT

3:45- Fountains Of Wayne - skipeed them and watched Berlin and checked outall the booths and walked the Lawn lookingg for friends. They sounded okay from the Lawn.

4:15- Mark Almond of Soft Cell- snuck my friend in from her seat in the LOGE to our Orchestra section and got all the way up to front- she worships him- and he was in fine form!

4:45- Interpol- stayed up front for them- great sound

5:20- Psychedelic Furs - my date's fave band... stayed up front- AWESOME

6:00- Violent Femmes- during their set I snuck in a few more friends from the LOGE. The Femmes sounded fantastic

6:40- Echo and the Bunnymen- this was the last band we snuck to the front for- and they ROCKED!!! But finally our luck ran out and we had to move back to our real seats about 20 rows back (still EXCELLNT seats) for the final song of the Bunnymen. Ian McCullough as a riot chain-smoking through the whole set and procalimin they were the best band on the planet

7:20- Hot Hot Heat- I only knew 2 songs but the rest of their stuff was good- but a bit redundant

8:00- Duran Duran- Wow. These guys were in TOP form... They easily were the stars of the night and put on the best show

9:35- The Cure- We left halfway through the set as Robert Smith played like 8 BORING new songs in a row that nobody knew... The old hits they played were GREAT but we were ready to bail...

All in all: a FANTSTIC day in the desert!!

    Cheers,

    Jay

Oh come on it's bound to take affect on the senses for a while after being in the presence of that lot.

BUT I'm glad you all enjoyed yourselves.

    thanks for that, strmf.
A wee bit of advice though, - after the 'english beat' thing, you should have written "that's 'The Beat' to my UK readers".
And "that's 'sneaked' to my UK readers" after each 'snuck'.

Just to let you know, because there are a few pedants here. Though I'm not one of them , of course.

Oooohhhh, that was probably the wrong thing to say to Patrick, Jay. It's probably the wrong thing to say to ANY of the UK people here. Even I would know better. When he comes back around to you with his tart retort, just plead temporary insanity from chocolate poisoning, or something.

Tart retort? Moi? (mindy's not the only one who can speak french, y'know).
Anyway, there was nothing wrong with strmf's reply. We might be individually scottish, english, welsh, or northern irish, but we are also UK people.
Now, if strmf had said 'english people' then we might have had a wee problem. But he didn't.

It is cool that you had "Excellnt" seats... but lets not rub it in for those poor souls stuck out on the lawn... I haven't raved about my pit ticket... but i'll tell you it was "AWESOME" to say the least..

"9:35- The Cure- We left halfway through the set as Robert Smith played
like 8 BORING new songs in a row that nobody knew... The old hits they

Have to disagree with you on that.. maybe your Cure knowledge is a bit outdated.. They did not play any new songs not even one. The newest songs they played were 3 songs from their Bloodflowers album and that came out in 2000, so it's no longer new. But nonetheless.. they rocked and from what I could see there was still 90% of the venue struggling to exit at the end totally in awe over the awesome performance... I understand that you are not a Cure fan as am I, but posting as a fact may not be a wise choice of words especially when we all love the same genre of music. Some of us come on here and read news about another great legend in music as is Morrissey… It’s a little disappointing to find misleading ‘facts’ posted for those who didn’t attend, to read.

    Thanks..

Default The Cure are GREAT- don't get me wrong...

No offense- but most of our entire row was empty after a few of the many slow droning sleep-inducing songs...

I'm not a big Cure fan anyway - and really only know the hits- so all the other suff that die-hard fans like yourself know was unfamiliar to me. To each their own. I think perhaps a lot of the other people that ditched the Cure half-way through may have just been tired after the loooooong festival day/night...

    Cheers
