Now, with all that Rubber Ring talk ...
I never understood what's the importance or meaning
of 'the jar' in Glamorous Glue?

Appreciate an answer.

Thanks

It's a colloquial expression for drink and drinking - e.g. if you meant that someone had resumed drinking you might say they were "back on the jar" or if you wanted to invite someone out for a drink you might ask them if they wanted to "go for a few jars." I've always assumed that's how he meant it.

Re: It's about glue sniffing!!!!

Oh, you poor innocents. Was it too obvious? Morrissey is singing about glue sniffing. What you do is put your dollop of nasty glue in a jar and inhale. It helps to put it in a jar 'cos if you sniff a tube you run the risk of sticking your nose to it.

Don't do it kids. It rots your brain.

They used plastic bags round our way - which is more effective, athough it probably increases the risk of suffocation.

Re: Thanks

I always thought the Glamorous Glue is the metaphorical glue that keeps the nation together. In this case what makes you feel English or British and part of a greater force. Which Morrissey feels is no longer existent.

I never thought of it in such a practical way.

I thank you for your answers, I can live with Almodis' explanation for the
jar thing. I'm not that familiar with that phrase.
Nothing has only one meaning I guess.

Thanks

Re: You sure have a problem, if you got glue flowing out that end. Messy.
