    Default University Challenge

Had University Challenge on in the background tonight and half-caught the end
of a question to which the answer was 'Morrissey'. Something about being turned away from somwhere as he was not recognised as the lead singer in the band. Anyone know what the question was?

It was to do with a photo-shoot in a Library in Manchester, and the librarian, who didn't know who he was, turfed him out. Quite frankly, even if she had known who he was she'd have probably turfed him out anyway. Fancy.

What an obscure thing to ask a question on. The Smiths wasn't a specialist subject last night was it? Perhaps they were using up some spare questions from the first in the series. What was the full question - anyone?

They don't do specialist questions on University Challenge Tingle.

Perhaps you are getting mixed up with "Mastermind" ?

Yes, sorry Johnny, and everyone - was confused because I caught a bit of 'Mastermind' when I was expecting 'University Challenge', which was actually half an hour later than usual. And I didn't read the original opost here properly. Still, that's the second Smiths question on UC. I posted recently about a question in teh 'misery' themed round. What was the question yesterday Johnny!?

What a great board game Mastermind was ! almost
as good as Subbuteo...but not quite

The question that was asked was answered in another post.

Something about which singer turned up at a library for a photo shoot and was asked to leave as they did not believe he was the singer of The Smiths.

Jeremy Paxman can be quite funny. I remember he was pushing a woman for an answer to a photo question. He was asking what year to the nearest decade it was painted. Anyway, this stumbling woman was taking ages to answer and he was saying "Come on! make an attempt !".

So she answers in a barely audible whisper," Was it 1885 Jeremy" ? and he said, "Good God woman..you're in the wrong century"!!!
    She was almost in tears..

Did he mean that SHE was in the wrong century? Or her answer? Or both?

Johnny, that's the funniest thing you've ever said. Pity your humour is so infrequent, or you'd be quite a nice guy.
