its scandalous that "Vauxhall and I" didn't win...also the Super Furries should have scooped up a few awards too. Gomez? Bah. Of the ones I've heard of this years (Coldplay,Radiohead,Thrills,Darkness,Eliza Carthy), they're all pretty average. I hope the Thrills win, but it'll probably be some random unknown.

The successfull/established artists they nominate are never allowed to win, are they ? - they're just there to prove how left-field the prize jury is (by passing them over for someone more 'daring'.) Similarly the token jazz/dance/electronica/folk/country artists - who aren't allowed to win either. I think the Furries have only been nominated once ? (for "Rings..") and good as that album was I think on balance PJ Harvey deserved to win that year.

Rings around the World is by far their worst album, its not that its bad, but "Mwng", "Guerrilla", "Radiator" and the new one are far better.
