Please, God, what the hell is the Michael Essany show all about? Is is ironic and therefore funny or not ironic and therefore not funny?

Do Americans understand the humour of irony? Not so sure.
How's it going Miss? You still loved up with The Fairy?
all the best.
Now, must crack on.

I think there's supposed to be something to it, such as this nobody is all of a sudden famous, with doing little or no work. That's the American dream, right there. He really has little to no talent, though. Plus, I spent a good five years of my life around Michael Essany types- people who thought they were going to be the next David Letterman; so I have to admit I find the show doubly annoying. Been there, done that.

Of course, I didn't vote for Bush, so you may want to ask this question to a 'real' American.

Miss is doing fine! And I'm still very much loved-up with the sparkly Fairy

That's a good point (about the American dream). Although I think he'll improve once he loses his virginity (if ever). The best was a shot of him in college and everyone around was looking at him and thinking 'twat'.

Was it cancelled? I only watched it because of the train wreck factor. I am convinced that E! was just making fun of this poor kid by parading him out in prime time like he actually has talent. It's sad how he and his parents are so disingenuous about the whole thing. But yes, why he thinks he has talent is beyond me. Craig Kilborn is funnier.

Do you reckon it's the train wreck thing? I watch it late night on Channel 4 (the same channel that 'The Importance of Being Morrissey' was on, and also the same channel that Morrissey namechecks in 'Shoplifters of the World Unite' yer know). Not only is there the question on why on Earth E! would broadcast it, but why would Channel 4 buy the rights to it? It's all very odd.

As Dolly Parton once said, " Either get your own patter, or buy me lots of guinness on a regular basis." Or something like that.

I still can't believe we export the Michael Essany Show. I suspect you have the Anna Nicole Smith show, too. No wonder everybody hates us.
