I've only had this album for a week. At first listen I didn't know what to make of, it seemed to lack all the gentler songs that make Vauxhall & I such a good album.

Now I think its fantastic, the last track Southpaw is a soaring epic of collosal garganuan proportions.

Just wanted to share that.

You're right,it is fantastic...some of morrissey's best work. I really love the operation, and dagenham dave...boy racer rules too. That whole album rocks!! good call.

I think that Southpaw is a brilliant track. From beginning to end it keeps me interested. The long instrumental part is best when you just turn it up loud enough to block out all other sounds, lie back, close your eyes and simply let the music paint a landscape for you on the back of your eyelids.

It's a classic album and I have no idea why a lot of Moz fans have a problem with it.
As I have said before if he had dropped "Dagenham Dave" from the album and replaced it with "Nobody Loves Us"it would have been even better.
D.D could then have been used as a non album single.
My favourite Moz live song is "Teachers" and I felt it was a real pity that no "Southpaw" songs were included on the last tour.

In 10 years time I think this album will stand the test of time more than any other Moz album

I think some of the songs on "Southpaw Grammar" are some of the best he has ever recorded, "Reader Meet Author", "Southpaw" etc. But the problems I have with Southpaw are that its too short, and in places I think the production is a bit muddy, "Southpaw" could have been even better than it is.
Still, its ace.
