HALLOWEEN HELL: Haunted House Aims to Show Teens the 'Wages of Sin'
Abortion is back at this year's "Halloween Hell House" -- a yearly event sponsored by Colorado's Abundant Life Christian Center that aims to make teens "think about the ramifications of the choices they make" -- and this year's haunting will also include scenes on the perils of teen sex and an AIDS-related death. The Denver Rocky Mountain News reports that visitors will see a gay couple's marriage bed be "replaced a few years later with a hospital bed as one of the partners dies of AIDS." In another scene that "mourns lost virginity," a girl who has just slept with her boyfriend in her parents' bed while they are out of town is told by a "demon guide": "The dog you just slept with is Prince HIV, and he doesn't even know it!" Associate Pastor Keenan Roberts said he hopes to "have the seed of faith planted, renewed or confirmed" in every visitor to Hell House. "Things for young people are not getting any better. We need to continue to be as bold as we have ever been with the message that sin brings destruction, but that Jesus saves and forgives," he said. But Suzanne Banning, executive director of the Colorado Legal Initiatives Project, said, "It's tough to comment on something that's so ignorant. We see committed, monogamous relationships that deserve recognition and don't end up in the way this is portrayed -- with death and destruction" (Lindsay, Denver Rocky Mountain News, 9/29).

i cant recall who`s ventura (gov. of florida?) but you are right. organised religion had terrible effects on the world. i am not christian, but it seemed to me the american individual got along fine with religion as long as it pampered his hopes and dreams and gave him freedom...unlike the european catholics, who are more prone to brainwashing anyday, the americans will survive this battle.
the democrats should publicly say:
yes to abortions
yes to premarital sex
yes to gay and lesbian couples

they said yes to hollywood
they said yes to the freedom of press and pornography.
they will say yes to anything that brings home the bacon.
they will say yes if the american voter will stand up on its feet.
well hec, i`m not even american.

The real point is that neither party should even be concerned with these issues. They are completely personal, non political questions.

Are you really comparing freedom of the press to pornography? There only remotely related as covered on our rights to freedom of speech and association. Pornography is a thorny issue - as a liberal I might feel pornography is bad, but I don't want to see people censored.

Freedom of the press, though, is a much more noble idea (though our journalists don't always make it seem so). How could it be a good thing for the government to be able to say what gets printed about it?

What level of press censorship do you have in your country?

Re: Jesse "the Body" Ventura is right, organised religion is for

I grew up in a church like this.

Thank God (or whatever) I GREW UP. And out of it.

Re: Jesse "the Body" Ventura is right, organised religion is for

be careful not to stereo type. not all "oranized religion" is like this. not even all Christian churches. to do so is an extremly ignorant POV.

also...whats good for the individual is not always good for the whole.

Re: Jesse "the Body" Ventura is right, organised religion is for

This is what one tiny group of 'religious' psychos want to do. If they think that's what religion is about, then they've totally missed the point of the Bible and Jesus's teachings. These folks probably have serious emotional problems and use their 'church' as a means of working off their negative energy.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone ...

aborting gays

> yes to abortions
> yes to gay and lesbian couples

Speaking of abortions and gays...I just read something really messed up. Although we are not sure if homosexuality is completely genetic, I think we can say that it's at least a good part of it. Soon there could be a way to test a fetus for homosexuality and many parents will choose to abort it.

People are just taking way too much into their own hands and often times their mind.

That is so true.

Corporations decide what gets into the media, which is just as bad or worse than the government doing that. Big business has a stranglehold on the American mind.

Corporations force the concept of objectivity and truth in reporting out of the newspapers and media with the threat of lawsuits. Communisum does pretty much the same thing, does it not? When it witholds the truth, or denies it, to benefit the party in question?
If one wants truth in media, one should find a source which does not contain any advertisements, such as Ms. magazine (are they still ad free?) These publications are of course a little more expensive than your standard, run of the mill ones, but at least they can write articles without "big brother", in the form of a corporation, constantly looking over their shoulder, telling them what they can or cannot publish.

God performs the most abortions!

I believe it is 2 out of every 3 "fertilized" eggs(could be more) never implants. That is an abortion. Eventually the church will change, if it didn't, the earth would still be flat and the center of the universe.
and on gays...
They had this guy call in on the radio(good christians who want to kill!) he was vehement how he felt that God doesn't make mistakes and that gays were evil sinners. You were either born a man or a women and you must like the opposite sex. When he was asked about hermaphrodites he was speechless. I guess he needs to think things thru a bit more. "Tax the churches, tax the churches, tax the churches"

there is no god

it is far from bring just "one tiny group." these people are dangerous, and they are everywhere...

religion is about being delusional.

Re: aborting gays

oh god , are you fell on your head this morning???

what's the point with that issue??
in a certain way,we are all bisexual ; when we feel attracted by someone else, it's not firstly because the person in front of us is a handsome man or a beautiful women.
otherwise, life would be easier!!!!

Re: there is no god

You must live in the United States, home of the largest population of right-wing Christian psychos in the western world. Elsewhere they are not much of a problem.

I wonder who wrote this. Hmmm...

I believe that there is, IMHO.

You're correct i'm afraid. I was in the UK for two months this past summer, and noticed the near abscence of right wing Christian propaganda. It was quite refreshing.

Re: Jesse "the Body" Ventura is right, organised religion is for

Religion is not the problem.

In France, you have abortion and abundant birth control. Their catholic population is 98% of the country. As we know, the catholic church doesn't believe in sex except to conceive a child.

We believe what we choose to believe.

It's much more fun to pummel poor trash right wingers who hold absolutely no power in society than the government for ending affirmative action and restricting welfare for poor people and instead give it to rich corporations. Then, there are still TV shows and movies with stereotypical images of homosexuals. I'm sure that helps their cause. And let's not say that right wingers are to blame. Any time you see a homosexual on TV, they are either a flaming fairy, or are in a serious relationship which one of the partners is dying of AIDS. Other than that, you don't see too many gays on TV.
