I just wanted to give a brief report on Johnny at the Fillmore last night. I was worried that he and the band would be exhausted after playing Coachella. He sounded really hoarse and the band looked subdued (there was an extra guitar player from Manchester), but Johnny gave a really vibrant performance. He seemed like he was really enjoying himself. At one point he cheekily played a Smiths riff.

When he played "Don't think twice," I was wondering if he would strip out the genders completely. He did--and what's more, he actually inserted the pronoun "him" in the lines "I once loved someone, a child I am told/I gave him my heart but he wanted my soul..." Does he always do it like that, I wonder? The song got a great reception!

It was good to see him looking so confident. And yes, sexy!
